Winnnig over all age groups with his G rated films, speaks only 3 words in each 1.5 hour film he's made. (not counting humms and ahhh's) Rowan is second only to Charlie Chaplin, which is a nice place to be.

There's too many different types of humour for it to be possible to name one actor as all time funniest. "I" think the funniest actor ever is Bob Newhart. His deadpan, self deprecating humour will never be duplicated. Then you have physical comedy. Dick Van Dyke, Michael Richards, Chevy Chase (Who I don't find particularly funny btw) are just a few that people love. And who's better at the one line insults than Don Rickles? It all depends on what you find funny.
But I'd stick with Bob Newhart over Rowan Atkinson any day of the week.Comment

Yeah, I realized after I typed that out he said film, but I still stick with what I said. MY favorite comedic FILM actor would probably be Charles Grodin. Same deadpan delivery style as Bob Newhart. That's what I love. I'm not a big fan of physical comedy. John Cleese is funny, but Bill Murray just rubs me the wrong way. Overactor is the word that first comes to mind.Comment

Bob Newhart was a genius, but no film actor. On radio or audio he was one of the funniest men ever.
But the funniest ever for me was Phil Silvers. If you want a really funny movie try to get this, got many of the comedy giants in.

The part where he's driving over the mountain is classic. Trust me if you have not seen it get it, 45 years on and it still has not dated much.
Rowan is in this league though. Some of the others in this post are no where near good enough, too controlled by studios trying to please everyone. Rowan started on UK TV and developed a style all his own, by the time he got to films it was going to be on his terms.Comment
