    Our beloved Tom was in a serious accident

    with his motorcycle last Friday and he has been going through surgeries for his leg over the past few days. Tomorrow is the next one. While there's no danger for his life, the doctors are doing the best for the full recovery of his leg. I wanted to let his friend know through this topic since most still finding out. I'll see him again on Friday and i'll read your wishes to him.

                              Over the years, I've had over a dozen friends that ride bikes suffer injuries in motorcycle accidents, and almost none of them were at fault.

                              Once I was a passenger on a bike that was being driven by a friend who was a motorcycle safety instructor, and he expertly laid his bike down when a car suddenly pulled into the street from a blind alley, blocking our path and making some sort of collision inevitable (I still caught my ankle in the spokes, which cut into my military boots, bruising my ankle up pretty good).

                              Even though we were not at fault, that pretty much cured my fascination for driving in traffic with motorcycles (I still occasionally ride off-road with friends on their bikes - I only own a 10-speed racer and mountain bike now).

I love motorcycles but they are so dangerous, especially in populated areas. I know several who have been severely injured and several that have died as well. It's sad.

                                                                                                                                                                      He is doing okay.
                                                                                                                                                                      Only complaint is the hospital TV system that only has local LA stations, so he is pining for comprehensive news of any sort. ;-)
