I'm not thrilled with 3.5 either
I haven't encountered the embedded videos issue but I can't add images to posts. I've gotten around it by uploading any pics I want to use to 'media library' and then adding them to specific posts after. Annoying as hell but it works.
I got the disappearing text thing a few times with IE but never with ff, maybe try a different browser than the one you typically use to see if it helps
