For some reason Bacardi doesn't do it for me....at the moment it's all Captain
Morgan I drink.....if you haven't already you should try it.....it's da bomb.
Much smoother taste but still with that spicy rum bite
Here in Puerto Rico, the land of rum, the top choices are:
1. Don Q
2. Bacardi
Nobody here drinks Captain Morgan, they put Puerto Rico on the bottle just for marketing, and they have one sorry ass small factory here just to claim Puerto Rican.
Don Q, even though it doesn't cost much on the island, is like the Grey Goose of Rum. Nice and smooth.

Ehh Captain Morgan has Jamaica on the bottle, not Puerto Rico.....apart from the fact that I judge on taste and less on heritage.
Actually the gold spiced rum says it contains a selection of fine carribean rums and mellow spices....

The Spiced Gold is running really low now.....I guess 2 more glasses left in it....I better go out pick up a new bottle before the liquor stores close.....
I have a choice usually between two, Captain Morgans and Bacardi. Almost always go for Captain Morgan unless it's for chicks to drink too (usually it's just me, sitting alone and crying who drinks it).
Wow, you can tell where people are from by the shitty rum they think is good...
The only decent Bacardi is Anejo if you can find it... 1873 is drinkable if you're in a bar and that's all they have, but that's it. Rum wasn't meant to be white and white rum tastes like floor cleaner.
Captains barely counts as a rum really, but as it tastes better (although too sweet imo) than any Bacardi and it's found in most bars it's about your only option usually...
Mount Gay and Cockspur from Barbados are pretty good if that's what they have in your area... Brugal Extra Viejo (Dominicon) is good too if you can find it (although as far as I know they don't export much). Same goes for Centenario (Costa Rica) and Abuelo (Panama), doubt you'll find those in North America but if you can they are better than Bacardi.
I've seen Flor de Cana (Nicaragua) in the USA, although usually only the 8 or 12 year and it's overpriced... Flor 12 is ok, 18 and 21 are better.
But, if you can ever track down a bottle of Zacapa (Guatemala), then buy it. There's several levels (15yr, 23yr, XO) and they're all good... I drink the 23 most of the time and am trying to justify dropping 5x as much for a bottle of XO, but if you call yourself a rum drinker and haven't had Zacapa, you're really missing out.
Bundy OP rum is the best... 60% (120 proof).. nice hit in the morning the lunch

Brugal you can get here in the specialized liquor stores....Zacapa I'll have to check out.....I recently start to seriously like the taste of rum.....so I'm still
exploring....
Abuelo is the best Panamanian rum, tastes a little like cap morgan but much better. it comes in different aged versions. i dont think you can buy it outside panama...
