Daydate, seeing how I don't work set days or hours anymore I don't remember what day it is sometimes so having it on my watch helps.
Other then that I don't see much difference between them as either one is understated elegance. Of course some still make them look ghetto with diamond bezels and that sorta crap. -
think the biggest difference is the day on it right?
Got a datejust myself but never missed having the day on it...

I've never liked either one. I love the look of the two-tone submariner, I picked one up last year.
A bit classy is still the GMT, looks sharp IMO. or I'd check out the Milgauss.
If you were going between the two, Id say Day Date because nothing says true
then having the day of the week and the day of the month on your wrist
Make sure to buy a winder, it will be a great $70 investment. I found a great one on Amazon that has specific settings of RPD for their watches, I can send you the link if your interested.Email: Clicky on MeComment

As far as I know both of the ones I posted above are 18K gold with presedential bands :-)
The only dif I can see if one has the DAY above the rolex logo and it kinda looks less clean to me.
Am I mistaken?Comment

One you can buy in all gold, rose gold or platinum where the datejust is either stainless steal or 2 tine stainless and gold.
You can see the difference in the price.
A stainless steel datejust you can get in tye 2k range. Daydayes are 5 figures +Comment

I dont think they make datejust in all gold, and if its has presidentail band its not original. The datejust comes with either oyster or jubilee band. Jubilee is similar to presidential band but with more holes (best way to explain). The oyster is a similar band to the rolex daytonaComment

Prefer the DateJust.
I have a ladies datejust and a Yacht-Master.Comment

I am not a big fan of either models, then again, I am not a huge Rolex fan in general. If I ever buy a rolex it will be a Daytona

Or an Explorer II
Gold watches by and large are ostentatious and tacky. People who are more interested in status and less in horology buy gold Rolex watches.
My daily wearer is a Sinn U2

or a Omega Speedmaster Professional

You are completely clueless. Gold has gone up extremely in value. If you baught a gold day date 10 years ago you are probably up atleast 30-50 percent just on the value of the gold alone. I paid 1800 for a used ss datejust about 15 years ago. I can now sell it for more then 22 2300. You could have baught ss daytonas 7-8 years ago for about 8500. Trying getting one now for less theb 11-11.5k .Comment

Anyone who says things like this guy does really just knows nothing about watching. Ofcourse a gold day date is a status symbol. Its a 20k watch.
They are great watches that have done nothing but increase in value over the years. It is a timeless classic.

This is the datejust site. As I said. It does not come in Gold with the presidential band. Thats a photoshop of a daydate without the date, or a fake rolex.
You can also buy the day date in white gold or platinum ( since platinum is less then gold now I believe ).
In particular this is my favorite watch right now. Rolex Yachtmaster 2
