    i FUCKING HATE when idiots bring out a guitar at a party:

    Wonder why you arent getting layed? no one wants you hear you play your faggot ass guitar and that includes hot bitches.

    Guitars are for chumps and only complete losers actually carry them around with you.

    I was at a new years party and this idiot started to play guitar i tossed in a CD and turned it up to defen the sound, and guess what people started dancing.

    If you want hot bitches at your parties or even want to get layed by an ugly bitch put away your fucking guitar you look lame. and no one wants to hear your half assed musical skills other then your own mother,

                                  Playing the guitar can be fun. It can be fun to play with someone else who plays guitar as well. However, I'm pretty sure I know what you're talking about. Theres a time to play guitars and then there are times when you just shouldn't do it. I have a buddy who does it when he shouldn't. It becomes annoying very quick. At parties, he'll pull out a guitar. When you're trying to watch a movie, he'll pull out a guitar. Hell, even when you're talking to him on the phone he'll start playing guitar. Like I said, it's fucking annoying. I think he uses it as a way of attempting to get laid, which has not happened. Like I said, guitars are fun to play and some people have some real talents, but some people just fuck around with them at the wrong times and it does become annoying.

                                          Being able to play a guitar has never got him laid. No matter where he has been and played it. It's amazing how some people can be. I'm not cutting anyone down, but it does become annoying. I'm all for someone learning to play the guitar, staying in practice and getting better. You just need to do all of that on your own time. There have been times when I've been hanging out with my friends, he comes over and one of my friends voices that she has a headache. It won't be 10-15 minutes later and he's got his guitar out playing it. This could be very annoying to a person who has a headache. I've also witnessed people telling him that the guitar gets on their nerves too much and ask him to stop playing. Especially while people are trying to watch a movie. See, he started off with an electric. He got more electrics and then decided he wanted an acoustic. Since then, everyone has been exposed to his guitar playing.

That's just me, I don't like to draw attention to myself -- although, it has gotten me laid once(and I don't even play that well).

It's not that they break out a guitar to start playing neccessarily, it's that they play the faggiest songs in order to sound sensitive maybe, I don't know. All I know is that it brings every other straight guy down at the party while some fucking guy tries to get layed.

                                                                                                  Just get some game like everyone else does and leave the guitar playing for a campfire or something.

                                                                                                                                  Being a guitar player the last 24+ years I do agree that breaking out a guitar at a party has to be under the following conditions:

                                                                                                                                  1. The host / people are cool with it overall.

                                                                                                                                  2. You have a set of tunes that people can sing to / dance to / know.

                                                                                                                                  3. Leave the "work in progress" pieces at home. Only break out the tunes you have down cold.

                                                                                                                                  4. Give it a break after 45 minutes or if you can see the crowd is not into it.

                                                                                                                                  The only times these rules do not apply.

                                                                                                                                  1. Its a Jam Session with other players there.
                                                                                                                                  2. You are alone.

                                                                                                                                  I took my Acoustic to a new years party at a mountain house that had 16 people there. The host asked me to bring my guitars and they asked me to play a few times before I broke it out. Why? ... Because there was a larger group of babes that were dancing and listening to old madonna tunes ...

                                                                                                                                  Later on, when it got quieter on the 30th - I broke out the guitar and came to learn that a fellow party goer is an accomplished classical guitarist. We passed the guitar back and forth for 2 hours between us and the people went fucking nuts that we had funky cover tunes, blues jams, jazz pieces and classical numbers down and yet me and Kyle ( other guy ) never met before that night but both played 24+ years each.............

                                                                                                                                  We were asked to bring our guitars *EVERY* time we come up to the house again as the hosts liked it that much.

                                                                                                                                                  this kind of stuff i can stand, is if you can play alot of different tunes, to me it sounds like you can tell if the people are feeling it or not, the worst is when someone kills the tunes that had the party bumping to play there shitty guitar tunes.

                                                                                                                                                  parties should be banging all night and not have any stops if people are feeling the music keep it bumping.

                                                                                                                                                  same thing goes with video games/sporting events to go into the same basket as guitars, leave that shit at home and hide the vid systems at a party, nothing kills it when a few people are sitting around playing vids instead of drinking games.
