How can the South Park cartoon say bad words like "fuck" and "shit". Isn't that prohibited??

I never noticed them saying "fuck", but it's on after 10pm and I think because it's on the Comedy Channel it might get more leway. Commedians have always been tough on the fight for free speech. In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator. -
There are like 3 or 4 episodes where the whole point of the episodes is them saying bad words, specifically "fuck".Comment

On the week-end Comedy Central often shows movies with any editing after midnight. As someone said fater a certain time the rules are relaxed and for cable the rules are relaxed futher. I suppose the FCC could still fine Comedy Central as I'm sure they are still braking some sort of arcane "naughty word" rule, but hat usually only comes after many complaints. One would have to wonder why someone complaining was letting their child watch South Park so late at night?Comment

I know someone who used to work for Matt and Trey and they usually get away with it by submitting the episode really late so the comedy central compliance people dont get a chance to censor it. They have been known to submit the episode with less then a few minutes before airing.Comment

Someone already said it. The FCC has limited control over cable. Thats' why hbo, showtime and everyone else gets away with it. Comedy Central is cable. As (I think) is FX which (I think) could do it and get away with it but the advertisers might protest.
Pretty much South Park is to Comedy Central what Quentin Tarentino used to be to the Weinstiens (miramax), they can do whatever they want and get away with it.
Personally I think South Park is the best written show on televisionComment

This thread launched a full blown discussion on the home front. As far as I know FCC doesn't regulate Comedy Central (since it's cable). If I remember right the FCC tried to bring cable and satellite companies under their control not to long ago. Any one else remember that, or am I fucking that up with some thing else?Shane
