LOL! Yeah, the shows were really over the top. People like Ron Levy giving away supercars and spending $100k just on booth space, parties and free booze for webmasters.
I started in 1993, doing billing for Virtual Dreams, (all manually, via BBS). Got out to run call centers in 1996, then got back in to adult in 1999, as billing was becoming automated, and made a ton of money in billing right through 2004/2005, (when things then started to slow down).... and spent it as fast as I made it. (Learned a big lesson there). No regrets, I have some amazing memories and experiences, and what else can you take with you?
Now most of my billing and banking business is outside of adult, probably 60%. I get in suits and meet with bank owners and lawyers. The money is still decent, but there is a hell of a lot more work to it now, and the extravagant living has definitely toned down....
Overall, what was it like?
It was like a big moving party of good friends going from city to city, drinking and having crazy adventures, every couple of months, Everyone was making cash, and everyone was going crazy having fun with it.
Now most of us "OG"s are married, with kids...
I'm glad I was there to live through it, it was a blast.
