I also suffer from extreme insomnia which I think is related. The only way I ever get to sleep is to stay up until I am fantastically tired which is why it is not unusual for me to be up for 36 hours straight. Today, for instance, I went to sleep around 1:00PM and got up around 6:00PM. I won't be able to go back to sleep until at least 1:00PM tomorrow. The biggest contributor to the sleep problem for me is not being able to shut my brain off. No matter how hard I try to relax or calm down my thoughts they race around and keep me awake.
