9, IIRC. Its not easy and I wasn't very sure (at all) of the outcome hence why I got doubtful and cheapened up my bets because I found another race where I was more sure. Fucked my world up.

I did not bet Santa Anita... I usually try to focus on three tracks and make good bets at those rather than trying to work the whole day's DRF because thats just too much. Better to make bets on ~10 races across a couple three tracks or so and bet more than try and bet 1500 races at $2 and make a little off each one. What did they do? Autotote go offline or something?

That was an insanely huge payoff. It happens but not very often. That type of payout is what you expect on derby day when the long shots come in. My jaw dropped to the floor when I went in and reviewed my records. I noticed my balance was $1500 higher on the days bets so I knew I must have had something respectable, a nice tri or something... so I went and looked... and then I went HOLY FUCK.

In NY, you can bet the superfecta for $1 straight, and get 1/2 the payout. Not sure if your place of wagering allows that.

Best way to win some nice cash, hit the "all" key in a few tri's & super's, along with your top two choices.

Yeah, they almost all allow $1 SF for the most part now... but not on Derby Day. Hell, in Dallas LSP offers $0.10 SF and those are fun because you can practice and sharpen skills without killing a ton of cash. And every once in a while, you can make a little money with them.

I was down there fucking around in a race on opening day and I decided "Ah, what the fuck?" and I looked at the DRF and pulled what I thought were the top 6 horses in best form off the card and then since it was a mile run on the dirt, I looked at times and found four closers and I bet the three closers as 1,2,3 in the order I thought they'd finish, then wheeled the other three for 4th place. It was a tiny little bit, I think like a buck or something. It was just to fuck around with. Well, the damn thing came in and it paid out over $600 on a fucking dime bet. I wasn't even planning to win nothing on it, it was more just to get my brain started but I did hit on it, then I got mad at myself for not putting $2 on it and collecting the full amount.

But boxing is for dopes, yo... great way to go broke. LOL Hey, why not box up the whole field? Then there is no way you can lose!

You make money by making smart bets and putting more money on the bets that you do place, not by trying to box up the entire field. And not being a dumbass like I was and getting cheap over a $2 bet and actually going with your gut and place bets you have a feeling are going to win. God, the tracks love those box bets. They make such a killing on them it ain't even funny. You are much better off putting $10 on longshots to win than you are making $24 SF Boxes. Or bet TRI and SF straight and take the $24 and spread it over several smart $2 straight bets, or, if you think you have a lock, stick $20 on a single SF straight. You hit on that and its IRS window and certified check time. Boxes are basically a shortcut for lazy people and they will eat a bankroll faster than anything.

It is hard to pick though and you need alot of luck, but it is a big rush
