Let me guess the bed you sleep on is all because of the department of education and the sheets and pillow cases were paid for by welfare. Mr Needy.

Ron Paul and other wackos want to use strict construtionism when law is decided. How fucking wacko is that? Are you telling me that we are supposed to follow the letter of the constitution to a "T" even though the world has evolved and so has society's standards? 200 years later??? Computer manuals are irrelevant in a week...and we are supposed to follow a 200 year old document to a T?

Guys like Ron Paul want to have their cake and eat it too. No where in the document does it say that gays can't marry, and women can't choose...but they will tell you that those things shouldn't happen. It's these fucking wackos who believe that the Constitution is an enduring document that should never ever ever ever change who will assure that we will never see these issues resolved before we die.

Lets not even get into the seperation of church and state...which again is nowhere in the constitution. Big cluster fuck that that is.

The constitution is a living document. It should evolve with the countries ever evolving moral standards, business, technology, etc etc etc. Strict adherence to it is fucking stupid. It's a foundation that should be built upon. Orignal Intent is better suited in interpreting the constitution.

You are only half as smart as you believe you are. Do you really believe the founding fathers' original intent was to have the budget deficits we do, the foreign policy we have, and the cradle to grave big brother government we have? If so, you seriously failed in your endeavor and you need to study early US and pre-revolutionary war history.

I guess so. It's not that people can't disagree, that's fine. But to make pseudo-intellectual arguments based on ignorance annoys me. Why can't they just tell the truth- they believe in big government and most Americans need government ruling their lives. I can buy that instead of the "constitution sucks" bs.

this country had a federal budget deficit of 75,000,000.00 from its first day which is well over 1 trillion dollars in todays dollars and i would guess that if contrasted with the GDP then and today, it is probably right on par with todays deficit.

let it go man. its not that you are wrong in your convictions, its that you desperately want to prove a subjective arguments to be fact (i.e. defending your preferrence for president).

why not just say "here's what i believe and why"... isn't that enough?

why keep making silly arguments that make little sense.. and continue arguing with people that SOOOOO CLEARLY arent going to agree with you.

furthermore, pushing the issue with the attitude that ANYONE who doesnt agree with you just "doesn't get it" does nothing to get your point across.

"We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our selection between economy and liberty or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat in our drink, in our necessities and comforts, in our labors and in our amusements, for our callings and our creeds...our people.. must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses; and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live.. We have not time to think, no means of calling the mis-managers to account, but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow suffers. Our landholders, too...retaining indeed the title and stewardship of estates called theirs, but held really in trust for the treasury, must...be contented with penury, obscurity and exile.. private fortunes are destroyed by public as well as by private extravagance.

This is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from principle becomes a precedent for a second; that second for a third; and so on, till the bulk of society is reduced to mere automatons of misery, to have no sensibilities left but for sinning and suffering... And the fore horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in it's train wretchedness and oppression."
                      Thomas Jefferson

I can give you dozens of other quotes by founding fathers and their thoughts on public debt and deficits. I stand by my original statement.

Subjective arguments? Maybe. Arguing that the us constitution is not an outdated document and holds as much merit today as it did 230 years ago is an argument worth having.

I don't mind discussing issues. But the anti Paul folks have NOT produced any logical points. It is just namecalling and smearing. Why cant "they" just admit that they WANT government to take care of the people and they want larger, more intrusive government. The argument "I am a product of government schools" that was laid down is what?

Please point out the SUBJECT parts of the debate, because I just don't see many. Either you want governmet to control your life, every aspect of it, or you dont. Maybe you consider that statement subjective, but then therein lies the whole debate.

Yup, I get your point, do you? You believe that the constitution is not important. I disagree. I could go into detailed reasons why it is just as important today as it was back then, but I don't think you could possibly grasp the concept.

It is not a knock on your intelligence. You have been conditioned governments' role is to nurture its citizens. Many people feel as you. Heck, I would feel that way if I thought government could actually "take care of us". But it can't. It's not efficient enough to be effective. The US political system is for sale to the highest bidder.

It is not a knock on your intelligence. You have been conditioned governments' role is to nurture its citizens. Many people feel as you. Heck, I would feel that way if I thought government could actually "take care of us". But it can't. It's not efficient enough to be effective. The US political system is for sale to the highest bidder.
of course i agree that the constitution is important. you have to say dumb shit like that because you have nothing of substance to say... and that, my friend is why supporters of Ron Paul lose the greater audience.

we are not talking about "the constitution" and debating its "importance" .... we are talking about your strict interpretation of what you believe the forefathers intended, many centuries into the future. most of which is subject to interpretation to the extent that the courts continually have to debate and decide what the intentions were.

the funniest thing is that i agree with you for the most part in principle. but, like Ron Paul, you guys go so far in your arguments and ideas that you alienate yourself and your views from common people. Thats why so few outside of the young, newly independent, untraveled, innexperienced and woefully naive college campuses of the States can get on board with him.

right or wrong is irrelevant if so few can get behind you. in fact, as Clinton once said, people under pressure are more willing to support someone who is a strong leader and wrong, than a weak leader who is right.

you guys do nothing more than push people towards better leaders who are wrong.

                                        ......

and let me clarify something for you. you know ABSOLUTELY nothing about what i believe. you just can't seem to grasp the fact that i have not been attacking the ideas... but the way they are presented. thats the problem. thats why Ron Paul will never be anything more than a few funny quotes and soundbites in the news about actual candidates who have a chance. thats why he gets very little media coverage. because whether you like it or not, he's not a serious candidate, he can't be elected and in fact, he is not even attempting to be nominated. he's just doing the ralph nader thing. it can be argued that has its place as well but it also, very clearly changes absolutely nothing in the big scheme of things.

People supporting Ron Paul are often just like people supporting the legalization of marijuana. there is no rational basis for the criminalization of marijuana... the problem is that those who care enough to do anything about it, although might have very strong arguments are the EXACT WRONG people to try to present those arguments to the mainstream in a manner which might be accepted.

I vehemently disagree with the "living document" view of the constitution. The essence of mankind and the institutions we create do not change even though our technology advances. What was true about Roman and Grecian governance was true in the 18th century and true now. People may not want to hear it, but it still needs to be said.

And to people attacking Ron Paul and his kooky supporters, that's ok. RP is funny looking, he speaks strangely, he definitely does not have all the answers. But at some point it has got to stop. We can not continue to print money and throw it away. These bills are going to come due and this country will eventually have painful choices to make. We can't continue to promise generations we are going to take care of them. Since none of the other candidates want to take up these issues, what is it you suggest? Ride the tide and grip the raft, wait till someone "mainstream"-"looks presidential" champions the cause? Exactly how would you present the ideas to make them more palatable?

I have attacked no one. I am not trying to convince anyone to vote for Ron Paul. If you have heard his message and you agree with it great. If you have heard the message and disagree great too. If you haven't heard the message then you need to. However, I will continue to respond to inaccuracies when I see them because they need to be addressed. I will try to keep my point focused, though from now on.

Right. Because the answers to 18th century problems will absolutely fit the issues we're looking at today without fail.

i should have watched meet the press?

no one should have an opinion unless they watched one more interview with Ron Paul explaining how he would like to totally dissasemble the federal government, pull out of the UN, close all overseas bases and so on?

did he say something new on Meet the Press genius?

you seem to just ramble at times and make up weird shit.

The constitution can and has been changed, you are right about that. I mentioned the bill of rights in this forum before. But in order to make those changes, they have to be ratified by the states' legislatures. None of the 3 federal branches can just change the constitution when they feel like doing so. In that regard, the constitution is not a living document to be changed by congress or the potus as needed, which was in the context we were speaking (federal powers regarding the constitution).

There was a reason the framers drafted it in this manner. So that the states could balance the power of the federal government with the will of the people. Of course long ago states rights, and therefore the peoples rights were usurped by the US government.

                                                                    Next snide remark!?!?

Let me help you one more time... and bear in mind, that i am usually not real patient with the mentally challenged, but your blind passion in spite and fearlessness in expressing your own ignorance has touched me in a way few posters do.

so again... and like usual.... you really have no arguments of substance so you have to keep insisting that anyone who dissagrees with your views is jsut "brainwashed"

"sheeple" is a word which only serves to provide refuge to the ignorant.

"if you don't agree with me, you're an asshole that has no balls" isn't exactly an effective way to communicate a serious message and affect change.

"people like me" have nothing to do with him getting the nomination or not. he never intended to... he isn't trying to.

you accuse me of having no balls? really? again... you have ZERO idea what i believe in, who i support, who i would like to see be president. NONE. ZERO.

Let me help you one more time... and bear in mind, that i am usually not real patient with the mentally challenged, but your blind passion in spite and fearlessness in expressing your own ignorance has touched me in a way few posters do.

so.... i was addressing the remark "I vehemently disagree with the "living document" view of the constitution."

had nothing to do with you at all.

done. it wasn't about Ron Paul at all or Meet the Press or AIDS in africa.

i wasn't insinuating anything other than the fact that The Constitution is in fact a living document that is subject to change and what greece did, what rome did etc has nothing to do with anything in the USA in 2007 and anyone that knows anything about Greece and Rome knows that the rule of law and human rights were real high priorities in between burning villages, slaughtering and raping people and taking slaves.

so again... and like usual.... you really have no arguments of substance so you have to keep insisting that anyone who dissagrees with your views is jsut "brainwashed"

"sheeple" is a word which only serves to provide refuge to the ignorant.

So... now i get my info "from the mainstream media" as if Meet the Press is a Soviet Think Tank in Lithuania and can only be seen on the Official State Channel of Our Glorious Leader of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea

I don't expect intelligent commentary from you. "Ron Right or Wrong" seems to be the theme with you. there is no discussion. As i keep saying ... the problem isn't as much with Ron Paul as it is with Paultards like yourself.

                                                                          WTF? Make sense much?

If that is true, then you could not in good conscience vote for ANY of the other candidates (my opinion). I have no problems with those that profess the need and love for larger more intrusive federal government. At least those people are honest. And that, in a nutshell, is the choice in this election(my opinion). I am glad we finally have an option.

Out of all the candidates I really think he is the only one with the countries best interests at heart. Ron Paul believes that there should be no corporate oversight on corporations. To me this is frightening. I do like some of what Paul has said, but over all I just don't see how he can be the one to pull the nation together and put it back on the right track.
