Anyone familiar with Invision Board software here?

Just curious if anyone is familiar with Invision Board's software enough to customize the default theme that comes with it?

Drop me a note if this person is you.

Yes but do yourself a favor, get VBulletin it really is the better option and will make your forum more useable, for whatever reason, people prefer postng more ok forums using VBulletin.

Webmaster Advertising: I own licenses to several boards (IPB, vBulletin, Xenforo and others). I think each has their pros and cons, but when given the option of dealing with the arrogance of vBulletin or IPB's customer service departments, it's certainly a bit of a tossup. In any case, we opted to go with IPB for this project. If we feel a need to migrate to another platform, that's relatively easy enough to do.

I definitely agree with you there.

My own thoughts on the matter, having customized and owned several message boards over the years though is to take into account end-user experience and ultimately, our own experiences have been that forums running VB typically end up much more active and highly trafficked than others.

Of course, they're our experiences with managing message boards, yours may differ.

I think a large part of that is familiarity. vB has been around for a long time and many of the larger boards adopted it early, so it's kind of just the norm for many. I am not sure the platform would matter so much as the presentation. Interesting stat though. I wonder if presenting a vB board with a default IPB skin would have a positive or negative effect, or vice versa. Social experiment in the making?

From my own perspective, I personally like Xenforo more than either vB or IPB, and I think the one from SimpleMachines is a nice alternative for some applications.

Back in the day when phpbb was *the* popular program as well as the old-style flatboard, we tested our several programs, including some lesser known ones like NetBoard, like I say, for us, VB won hands down in terms of both user-base and traffic, both important aspects when selling ads on a message forum, which was our ultimate goal.

I wonder too about skinning VB with different forum layouts, definitely an interesting way to gleam some stats if nothing else.
