it's more fun to just poke John from NATS with a stick all day and night?

this whole thing blew up right here on GFY when an upset paysite owner using NATS posted that he was getting angry emails from members who claimed they used unique email addresses to join the paysite and were soon after sent spam emails and blamed the paysite owner for selling their email addresses. so there is a trail out there to whomever stole these email addresses - let's see the spam emails - see what sites they promoted and hopefully affiliate ID's.

I don't think anyone will care. The bro network is too tight and there may be drinks lost if someone finds out and exposes the person.

Seems people should be getting together, seeing where the spam was going to, and finding out who owned those accounts. This isn't rocket science, this is too sophisticated to just be some random hacker.

Albright isn't a 'bro' kinda guy - it is definitely in his company's best interest to find who is involved in this and if it led back to a well known individual or company maybe even a NATS client and they were outed it would be very good for NATS

We have already received a number of the emails that people's seeds got which we are sure are directly related to this.

I said I wasn't going to talk about the security aspect here and I was dragged into doing so by the GFY posse.

I am definitely not going to be discussing the criminal aspects of it here, but you can be assured we will be looking into it as intently as possible.

              Wow someone acting sensibly.

Instead of jumping all over TMM right smack in the middle of an obvious crisis situation, and in many cases without full details, someone's actually moving towards being part of the solution.

I for one am going to be waiting until the aftermath, when the crisis has been managed and all the details are out before I start passing judgment about who did what and why.

Right now it's time to nail the responsible party and take all nessecary actions to correct the problem, not place blame.

Document everything. It's required by law that you document the details of your internal investigation & keep it on file for 5 years

I, myself, wonder if it is that Kandah asshole that was on here peddling stolen lists a while ago. Even said it was from members areas.

I agree. I'm just saying there are going to be companies that benefited from this. There are companies who received traffic off these email lists. Do you think these companies are going to be quick to giving up this information on some of their best affiliates?

Way too sophisticated for a guy who peddles email lists for pennies on the boards. Maybe he was able to get his hands on a list from someone, but I highly doubt he is intelligent enough to pull that off.

Frankly I suspect the culprit is already well known amongst the programs that take part in spam under the table... "should" be easy to track down...

But I've got to say that if I was the owner of a couple of the bigger programs using nats and found out that my members were getting spammed due to this... and it was true that nats has known for awhile about this... I would be talking to my own lawyers about the damage to my companies reputation that had been done and what sort of legal actions were possible... nats seems to jump all over everyone when it comes to their reputation... I think someone should be reaming their ass out.

Shit... If you actually caught the guy and had him prosecuted I can think of no better way to deter this from happening again then by posting it here and in the mainstream press.
