The author of The Hunger Games claims she has never read Battle Royale or watched Battle Royale. I haven't read either book, have only watched the movies, but I don't see how that could even be possible.
A coincidence of a loose storyline is one thing, but when you see a "similar" element over and over again, there is no way she didn't read or watch it.
Either way, I enjoyed both movies. I was expecting a little more gore from Battle Royale, actually.
