Before I met my wife I had dated a chick with a ten year old daughter. Girlfriend was thankful just to have a man willing to take on her baggage (and was willing to do ANYTHING to keep me), and playing dad was an interesting experience. I'm sure it helped to prepare me for being a father.
Odd thing... The kid hit me up on Facebook about six months ago. I was surprised; I didn't think she would even remember me. But she told me that having me around was the happiest time of her youth. Go figure.
