So besides buying another watch psp or whatever, do any of you guys do charity?

Just wondering, I mean just goin over to the guy down the street who has nada and give him a box with food thatll last for a month.

Not solving anything I know just wondering if anyone does that.

I work for 3 different charities

1> www.hockeyforthehomeless.com I volunteer with the tournament itself and then distribution.

2> www.dressyourbest.ca I help with events and assist on the website.

3> Bay St Brawl which is a charity boxing tournament that is for the Believe to Achieve children's fund.

i put together packages of clothing i do not wear and take care of the homeless men in my area. Nice heavy duty stuff for winter plus gloves and hats...

Not really... anyone living below the poverty line in Calgary right now needs a kick in the ass, not charity I do give old clothes to salvation army or whatever though.

wow didnt expect that

we do have boxes with food for homeless ppl, but like everything they totally fucked up here in Holland. Theres footage of ppl driving their SUV to the foodshelter to COLLECT and complaining they cant park. Ppl who really need it arent anywhere.

Holland still is a country where most ppl say theres no poverty and the real poor ppl are afraid to ask for anything.

Would be nice if it was a bit better coordinated so I could put some effort into it as well.

Ive been in NY last month, if theres one city where no home means a big problem its NY I totally get that now.

Somehow the whole you gotta pray first before you get soup issue repulses me. Although they do offer food and shelter. I know. Its the you gotta say grace first that annoys me. Then again I bet if you have nada youd say anything to get something to eat.

we adopted a family this year for the first time and we are happy ... you are setup with a family in your area that is without work and actually appreciates your help. unlike giving money to a large company ( like salvation army which we donate too as well), where you don't get to see the results, with this program you meet the family you are helping out and get to speak with them etc. Found a very nice family who really needed help and we picked up their bills till the end of the month. It's not much, about $500 a week. But still, to be able to help out what little we can afford and actually give to people who need it. There is nothing better than the holidays.

I gave to Sports Gift through Just Give. I hope they aren't one of those scumbag charity's that are just using the system to pay themselves.

It's a good cause, gets sporting equipment to kids that can't afford it. I had to quit football in high school because we had so many levee's fail that our school was so poor we had to purchase all of our own equipment, and we couldn't afford it. It's a bummer when you can't even play sports because of the money, so this charity steps in.

Weve got that as well, you can even see the thread I made some yrs ago. Weve adopted a girl in the Phillipines, Vanessa. Unbelievable how little money is able to get the whole family a better live. Weve done this through children.org way better then some bigass origanisation, Ive got pics of her drawings stories, we gave her a toilet last year too weird but the family lived ina house without a toilet.

Anyhow thats not too special, we decided to share a part of our profits to this family long ago.

Still its good to hear more ppl do that.

not every charity is good or suitable for everyone. You have to find one that you believe in and go out and support it but do your reserach and find out how it's run.

We have an assload of toys going to one of the local orphanages, and also some to the old folks home. We dont give shit to the redcross here are they are making a damn fortune, and dont give anything away.

Toy/food drives + Children's Hospitals get a little bit from me every time this year. Nothing huge but I do what I can.
