I only use windows at all because of gaming compatibility, otherwise I would be on linux or maybe apple even.
I have heard that game developers are not excited about windows 8 at all and it seems MS is trying to push gaming off of the desktop and keep that all on the console side.
There is a good chance Windows 7 will be my last MS product.
