    Worst Celebrity Run Ins?

When I was about 16 years old I met the guys from Winger. I wasn't a big fan then or now but the roadies were really good at getting people pumped to meet the band. I was allowed in to the store where the band was getting their instruments tuned for the show. Most of the guys were nice enough, but the lead singer was a complete dick. The whole time I was there he kept offering to sign my tits or maybe I could sign some thing "special" for him. The rest of the band as well as the roadies just kept apologizing left and right. Eventually I made them unlock the front door and let me out. Nothing quite like spending an hour with a would be pedo...

I was at cedar point (a theme park in Sandusky, Ohio) and Monica Lewinsky was allowed to cut to the front of the line because of the unmanageable paparazzi following her.

I walked into an after hours bar in Vancouver and I was scanning the place looking for my buddies. This place wasn't a booze can it was an actual nice bar/restaurant that had no windows to the main street so no cops could see in and they serve to a select crowd till 6am. So I'm staring at this skinny bald dude smoking a dart and drinking red wine reading a book and he looks up at me and we make eye contact and I'm thinking I know this guy but why?? Old friend? drinking buddy? kicked his ass? Now this guy is looking at me with that look of, stop staring at me and for fuck sakes do not come up to me.

Then it clicked as to who he was, Michael Stipe of REM!! Who else would be in a after hours drinking red wine and reading a book. He must have thought I was gonna come up and yap his ear off. Actual Vince Neil gave DH and I the same look at 10AM at the Hard Rock in Vegas as he was sitting drinking whiskey on the rocks by himself.

When I was 12 years old I ran into the Stiener Brothers, the old WCW tag team that we're my idols in the late 80's early 90's. We we're in West Virgiana and WcW had a small event where it was not telavised or anything. anyway, we were driving to the Gym where the event was at, and I looked to the side of the road about 4 miles from the event and seen the left side of Scott Stiener, wasn't sure it was him but looked like him because he was fucking huge.

I made my father pull into the restuarnt where they were standing in front of, and I got out and it was them. My father walked me up to them and they were trying to figure out how to get the Memorial Gym. My father told them how and told them I was a big fan, hell I had one of the t-shirts on. and asked if I could have a autograph, even offered to pay for it. Rick Stiener smiled and gave me a auto on the back of my shirt, Scott jumped in the car all pissed off and told Rick to get the hell in they had to go, and wouldn't give me a auto.

So after they I pretty much stopped watching wrestling and grew out of it, once I seen that shit for my own eyes. Probally all the same, Scott turned into a roid freak and is always in trouble with the law from what Ive read.

While living in Lake Louise and working at 1 of only 3 bars in town and ours vboted best Ski resort bar in North America in the early 90's I met a lot of crazy ass celebs.
                        - Jean Claude Van Dam, stayed after hours with us drinking and playing pool, when he was hammered he kept doing these stupid leg kicks and shadow boxing, but I was'nt going to say anything.

                        - Art Garfunkle and his "brother" - he stayed after hours in the bar, played pool and was smokin weed and the two of them bickered non stop all night, I can see why Simon split LOL We went back to our band house and we were jamming but he would'nt put the J's down long enough to jam with us.

                        - I bought Ugene Levy breakfast, when he was refusing to accept he broke into one of his SCTV characters and I keeled over laughing.

                        - Partied with Green Day during the Dookie tour on the Bookmobile we swilled beers while lil teenie poppers were movving the bus.

Toronto gets overwhelmed every year during the Film Fest, which always makes for good celeb spotting and stories...

Sadly... I am not one that has good stories, only "stupid mary" stories. So here goes.

Elbowed Jack Nicholson in the back of his head pushing back from my table. He's a drinker, and wasn't too happy that his scotch spilled down his suit. "Oh, my gawd, Mr Nicholson, I'm so sorry!"

Met Steve Buschemi at a bar while I was waiting for friends. Chatted with him a while... not quite realizing who he was, but knowing he looked familiar. Then, it hit me and the only thing that came out of my mouth was "Hey! You're Mr. Pink!"

Ahh, not my finer moments. Brushes with greatness they were not.

                          M.

I used to bounce at this shithole bar in Phoenix called Bostons. It was a shithole, but a lot of good metal and punk shows rolled through there.

This band Ill Nino came through and they were the last band of the night, so after their set, we started cleaning up and they took off to their bus. Right about when we finished, we all just kind of were sitting around the bar having drinks to wind down from the show, basically the security was trying to drink off the pain from all the shitheads that put it to us during the show.

The lead singer and guitar player came back in and started drinking with us. After a few drinks, dude brings out this gallon sized ziplock back full of pre-rolled blunts and offered it up. We were there until about 6 in the morning drinking and smoking with these guys, been a fan ever since.

Oh, worst celebrity run ins. I'm an idiot.

Same place, an old school band the Business played. These guys are biggest scumbag pieces of UK shit I've ever met. The wrecked half of the bar and their shithead fans wrecked the other half. After we finally got everything cleaned up around 4, bars closed at 1 at this time, they came back in demanding drinks. We told them to fuck off because they already went through 2 industial sized bottles of Jack and they started a fight.

Fucking toothless bastards got tossed out on their asses. Dicks.

Holiday Inn, Kerrville Texas. 1980 ish. Gary Busey was staying there, while him and Willie Nelson were filming Barnarosa outside of town. I used to swim there almost every day. I spent a lot of time hanging with Jake Busey. He was OK, not like the dick his dad is. I was playing pinball against Gary and beating his ass, I "owned" that machine. So Busey tilts it on me and walked off like a 3rd grader. Jake did a lot of apologizing for his dad.

In the early 90's I ran into David Justice at the post office in Atlanta.

I went to the PO around 7pm to get my mail from my PObox. I parked in a space and as I was walking in and noticed there was a new lime green Mercedes parked on the sidewalk- car running and rap music blasting. As I passed him coming in he dropped a letter as he was leaving. I tried to return it and the fucking jerk told me he didnt sign autographs. I handed him his letter and told him I didnt want his autograph. Guy was a major prick and didnt even thank me for returning his shitty mail.

At the New Orleans IA2000 we went to Rick's Cabaret and Dennis Rodman was dancing around drunk and did some funky spin kick thing in front of me and kicked me in the chin. Knocked me over and made me spill my beer all over myself. At least he said sorry when I got up.

I remember Gary Busey in Vancouver. He went to the SIC strip club party and had a magical can of Pringles that kept refilling itself whenever he emptied it.

I was young and drunk and walked up to dude who looked like a famous Dutch singer and laughed in his face that he looked so much like him...well ofcourse it was him. He didnt even say anything i believe. Just looked at me thinking i was a retard.

Blind Melon, of which im a fan off, was doing autographs after performing at a big big festival. So i stood in this line, near the front and after 20 mins or so waiting i was told they didnt show up, probably too stoned, and Dog Eat Dog would take their place. I was like fuck, that sucks but as im standing here now i might as well go in. So i walked in a bus or something where they were all sitting. Chatted for a few secs with the singer and wanted to move on. He said wait, my autograph..and i said, sorry, no paper (i wasnt interested in getting one) so he tried to put it on my jeans. I said no, dont do that...do it...err on my boots. Hahah. He gave me a funny look. I moved on to the bassist i believe. Nice guy and he noticed i had a cam in my hand and said, wanna snap a pic with me and, without being rude, i said ah no thanks. Got friends waiting or something like that haha. Dont get me wrong, i really wasnt trying to be an ass and they didnt take it that way but i just wasnt interested in the whole pic and autograph thing, which mustve been kinda weird to them.

Posted a story last year about the singer from the band HIM.

Not gonna repeat it completely but it boiled down to: He and some of his band dudes or roadies or whatever were walking down to my place for some beers after the place was closed. I even managed to get beers from somewhere which wasnt easy as it was like 4 in the night. Were almost there and the dude says: Got any coke? I say no. And he just walks away. Ahaha. Fucking ass.

I nod and remembering an old article about him ask "how's the golf game" I had to listen for five fucking minutes about boogies, doglegs, and other golf shit. Finally excuse myself and hit the refreshment stand where he continued to talk about an upcoming tour and how he was looking forward to some course designed by some famous golf guy.

I used to work at Sports Authority when I was in High school. I was the lead sales guy in the Out Door section so I was manning the Gun counter and up walks This giant Samoan guy. Turns out it's the ROCK. He was in the store about to take a middle school paint balling. We had the shittiest prices on paintball guns, $450 for a rainmaker, $299 for a spyder (if you know paintball you'll recognize the guns suck and the prices were even worse !) so I referred him to my buddy's paintball store and told him to go there and get a hefty 25% discount over the shit prices we had at Sports Authority. He looked so relieved that I didn't try to fuck him over and sell him the store. He thanked me, shook my hand and asked me for my name.
I was fired the next day when the regional manager found out I'd sent 25-35 paintball gun sales out the door at a cost of about $300 each.

Two weeks later I received a thank you card and a signed Autograph from the Rock, it was waiting for me at the Store when I went to pick up my last check. Nice guy !

The magazine was small, but when the northwest music scene exploded with bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana suddenly we exploded with it because we had access to these bands. Anyway, I have met a lot of musicians and many of them have been cool, others have kind of been dicks but the best story I have goes like this:

Liz Phair had her first record out and was coming to town to do a show. This album made her alternative rocks IT girl. I get picked to write the story. I call her and do the first part of the interview by phone. She is very cool and it goes well. Then she comes to town. I spend the day with her so that I can write the other half of the story. We hang out and have a good day. She is smart, funny, hot as hell and easy going. I watch her show that night and hang with her afterwards. It's a Friday night in Portland, Oregon and she is playing Seattle the next night then has a day off in Seattle. She is getting ready to get on her bus and leave and she says to me," Are you coming?" I say, "With you?" She says,"Yeah you should come hang out for the weekend." I then utter the dumbest words ever said by a man. "I can't have to work, I'm doing an interview tomorrow night." She says, "Okay." Walks over to me and plants a very passionate kiss on me. I stood there dumbfounded as she got on the bus and drove off. I walk back to my car in a daze and start driving about halfway home I say,"I have to work? Did I just turn Liz Phair down?"

The next day I go into the office and tell my editor the story. She laughs her ass off at me and tells me I have to write it into the story. She says I should have went, hand wrote the the story and faxed it to her they would have had an intern type it out and would have gotten someone else to interview that other band. She even says she would have gone lesbian for a weekend for Liz. The story came out and one day a couple days after it hit the stands I get a postcard in the mail that was addressed to me that simply ready "Dumbass!"

                                                                    Comment

This band Ill Nino came through and they were the last band of the night, so after their set, we started cleaning up and they took off to their bus. Right about when we finished, we all just kind of were sitting around the bar having drinks to wind down from the show, basically the security was trying to drink off the pain from all the shitheads that put it to us during the show.

The lead singer and guitar player came back in and started drinking with us. After a few drinks, dude brings out this gallon sized ziplock back full of pre-rolled blunts and offered it up. We were there until about 6 in the morning drinking and smoking with these guys, been a fan ever since.

We were in the store for a couple of hours as the band let us hang out while they tuned their instruments. The drummer let my brother beat the hell outta his personal drum set while I sat back with Jon and sang some songs. Out of all the famous people I've been lucky enough to meet the boys from Jersey were easily the nicest bunch. They sent us home with tons of stuff they autographed (which eventually I lost during moves). For years after that I would annoy my friends with the retelling of the run in when one of their songs would be on the radio or MTV.

They wouldn't even cover the hospital bills when we ended up in there. But the drinks were free, so it evened out.

My friend calls out, "Oh my god!! Heidi Fleiss!! Your dad was my pediatrician!!!" Then she turns around and yells out, "FUCK YOU".
