        What's wrong is they have tried to combine a desktop OS and a tablet OS into one.

                    I have been using it pretty much since the day the beta was released. Its good but the lack of a "START" button will confuse at first.

                    Just make shortcuts to your most missed start button applications and it works like a dream - I haven't tried to click the non-existent start button for months .

                    lol - I remember trying to turn the computer off in Win 8 for the first time - I had to Google it.

                    I never ever see the Metro crap BTW.....

                        I might try Windows 8, just want to know why i would try it. What does it do that Windows 7 can't? Give me a few reasons to install it.

                            I would say that Windows 8 is a 'Power User' upgrade. It has pretty low hardware reqs compared to other upgrades but as an example if I put it in front of my mum so she could buy cheap handbags on EBay I doubt she would know where to start (excuse the pun).

                            It runs faster on low spec machines (for me anyway) than Win 7, just use the normal Desk Top.

                            If you use Metro then its a different story, it is SO slow it hurts.

                                        The Metro interface is pretty irrelevant, the only time I see it is if I decide to start up the Netflix app.

                                        Windows 8 is really good with multi core systems. We installed it on a 3930k machine, did a couple of tests with Sony Vegas and found it was maybe 20% faster than Win 7 running on the same box.

                                        Disk i/o seems a lot better and the way it handles and looks on high DPI displays is really nice.

                                        We just installed it to test it out and never went back to Win7.
