    Newbie - Aquired Adult Site

    Ok,

    I have been around on here for sometime back and forth trying to get something going to start me into the adult side of things as I have done well with other types of websites but never really touched adult sites.... until now.

    I have recently purchased: DirtyTube.org

    Which is an adult video & social networking site, Its needs abit of work.. revamp design, more few more features etc..

    But It gets good traffic about 30,000 - 50,000 unique visitors per day, and does well from its current Advertising setup but I know it can do better.

    Right now the site is earning revenue mainly from Adengage and some other CPC / CPM Ads but does not promote any Affiliates.

    So really im looking for a kick in the right direction.

    Should I stick with the current advertiser? or do you know any better CPC / CPM advertisers?

    Or should I switch to promoting Affiliates and private advertising sales?

    If Affiliates what programs do you think would suit this type of website?

    Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

      quick look at your site showed me that your longest video is around 12 minutes, if you want to make in this biz you should serve movies at least 45 minutes long + the quality should be a touch better, just my 2c

                          Right now I know nothing about the current content, its still transfering over to my servers.

                          Although having a quick glance through the content by the looks of things is alot of spam and amatur videos.

                          I was looking to purchase some content for the site and some full length videos that I could either sell or charge X amount per rental (VOD)

                          Anyone know of some good places to purchase some good quality video's? amatuer and professional related.

                                  The site has no underage content as all content has been moderated to some extent by the previous owner,

                                  Although im yet to go through it to remove other offensive material.

                                  Once im fully running the site I will be trying my best to moderate all content the best I can but there will also be a report feature as its impossible to know whats what from first glance.

                                  Although thats kinda off-topic right now as Im looking for ways to change / improve the current content and advertising model of the site.

                                          Nope, i dont have paperwork for anything, from what the previous owner has told me its mainly user submitted content,

                                          Although I want to keep that part I want to moderate the content submitted by users so It is just there own content being uploaded.

                                          Then obviouly create the VOD part of the site that will be premium content.

                                                                  He admitted he was a newbie. I think the slam has been muted since he seems sincere. Pirated content = bad. My advice would be get legal content asap before everyone rips you a new one. Ask for that here, and I bet you get lots.

                                                                                  Just one piece of advice: User generated content in adult simply means stolen content, exceptions are rare, so get rid of any submission feature and upload your own sponsor stuff...or create accounts for sponsors so some affiliate manager can do the job for you.

                                                                                  You won't want to remove all at once, so make sure all new content is legal and documented, remove the old stuff as you add new.

                                                                                      At the moment the site is based on user submitted content, that is supposed to be there own content but right now I highly doubt thats the case.

                                                                                      as regarding laws, papers etc.. I have been reading around regarding those and that the direction I want to take the site.

                                                                                      However I do know somewhat about using DMCA etc.. and know that a suffeciant report / remove system inplace will cover me, unless I turned round and declined to take down offending material then I would be in trouble.

                                                                                      (Example youtube and many other sites that use this takedown DMCA to protect themselves although there not a great example as they have been sued but there bigger fish than me right now)

                                                                                      Anyway moving on.....

                                                                                      As said previously I really want to turn the site around and minimise the user submitted content that will be moderated so the site should hopefully build a steady stream of legit user content.

                                                                                      I also want to add legit paid for content that will be used for other parts of the site again as said before VOD / Premium.

                                                                                      Somthing like what Xtube.com and other related sites have running and they seem to work well.

                                                                                      Then once I have those things running well I want to concentrate on what advertising route would be the way to go for.

                                                                                      So..

                                                                                      If anyone could please guide me in the right direction to purchase some good quality content & some good CPC / CPM or Affiliates that you think would convert well with this type of site Please share them with me ;) It would be much appreciated.

                                                                                      Also just to say, Im a newbie to the Adult side of things but I do very well with non-adult related sites so Im not a complete newbie on how to make a website earn cash.

                                                                                              Right now you are running an adult porn site with zero documentation. Your content is from a variety of sources. "I'm new" is not a good defense should you be audited by law enforcement. A paperwork problem is jail time under 2257.

                                                                                              Get a lawyer.

                                                                                                          Well, he didn't mention where he or his business is located. If you are in the states this is very important. I would *strongly* recommend reading up on this if you are US based.

                                                                                                          Regarding your choice of sponsors - its not a one size fits all solution. All traffic behaves differently. My best advice is to experiment - I have found that on non-specific sites (where the content is all over the map, for ex: not black midget porn where its pretty clear what your surfers are into) its good to experiment with things that your site doesn't offer. Cams and Adult dating come to mind.

                                                                                                          But once again - sponsors and traffic can be hit or miss, best advice is to use some form of ad management and rotate a few sponsors at a time. Dig through the stats and find which is making the most money per impression (don't look at per click stats) as these "tube" type sites typically have poor CTR's and your hardest goal on these volume sites is to pull people off your site to your sponsors... this is largely determined by the quality of their marketing materials and your own creativity. Hence the CPM suggestion.

                                                                                                          So try if determine sponsor "A" makes "X" cents per "Y" number of impression vs. sponsor "B" and if that's the case increase "A"'s rotation in your ad management but still keep a healthy proportion of other ads to keep testing. Your goal is now to find a program that beats "A".

                                                                                                          Test, test and then test some more.

                                                                                                          Good luck and do research 2257 if you are in the states. Thats probably the best advice I've seen in this thread.

This isnt the fish n chips shop around the corner but the internet theres such thing as Im not in the US so I dont have to comply. Make sure you got everything done in writing all releases and whats needed. Wouldnt be the first to go down after a lawsuit for a tubesite.

                                                                                                                                                                                      It probably would have been cheaper and easier for you to register a new domain for $10 and do as much research as possible related to online adult marketing etc. Visit as many resource sites such as GFY, etc. etc. and once you have a firm grasp of the way the business works and the legalities pertaining to online adult material you should decide what direction to go from there.

                                                                                                                                                                                      This would save you a lot of headache trying to sift through someone else's mess trying to clean it up, and would eliminate the risk of being sued for copyright infringement or worse.

                                                                                                                                                                                      I understand your enthusiasm, but diving head first into something such as online porn may not be the best approach considering that many of the laws regarding online adult material are vague at best, and may differ greatly depending on your geographical location.
