Google can list your site as having maleware without even telling you

Just come across this website which is a good idea but they dont even contact you to let you know that your website has been infected or linked to a site that has maleware on it..In short they just list it on the google search engine as "this website might harm your computer"

If this was January, a year ago, you might be one of the first to break this story to GFY. Being that you're not the usual 'repost from Yahoo News' monkey, I'll let it slide.

There was no malware on the fucking site. They have removed the warning now only after requesting a review. What pissed me off was the fact they still have not even emailed me to tell me why it was listed or to tell me that they have taken the warning off the google search engine. This kind of website flagging should not be done without at least trying to contact the webmaster/admin. It aint funny when people see this warning on a website and god knows how long it had been up there for. It was only when somebody I know emailed me to tell me that the website had this warning on google. A great way to lose money heh

If it was listed you can pretty much bet it did have something nasty on it.

Also, if you register your sites in the Google webmaster area, you will/should get notified when a site is listed. If they waited for every website owner to contact them before they listed them, nothing would get listed.

I do have a google webmaster area and received nothing also they state on thier site that they try to contact the owner using whois If they had tried this with my site my email address can be found on it. There seems to be a lot of webmasters who have had the same problem with no contact from "stopbadware" before they have flagged the site. They seemed to remove the warning pretty quick one you contact them but I still have not had any responce as for why it was listed I am not knocking what they are doing I just think that a company who has the power to stuff your listings up in google should be more resposible on how they go about listing sites and contacting webmasters. Any way that said they have removed the warning now and still no email from them..lol

I have had sites on that and the hardest part is waiting out the time it takes for them to take it off. I had one site where I could find nothing bad on it that kept getting 'tipped' to them as being bad. Each time I talked to them they couldn't find anything either. It did cross my mine that I am sure that it being the top listing for a mainstream keyword phrase had nothing to do with it getting 'tipped'.

There's a BIG difference between dropping from position #1 to #349, and a specific warning saying "this website may harm your computer"

The latter definitely has long term consequences.
