Be it consciously or sub-consciously, they're aware of how rarely they are ever right about anything and knowing that causes them to look at sensible thought much in the same way gambling addict looks at his money at the end of brutal losing streak. They're looking to double down, triple down, or go all in. Just do whatever it takes to break even.

If they do ever end up being right about something, it's usually related to one of their rarely ever spoken secret conspiracy theories. But that won't stop them from trying to milk as much as possible out of it because deep down they know they might not ever be right about anything ever again. They're really left with no choice but to remind everyone about it whenever possible.

"Do you not remember when I said this about X about Y?"

Which is when you respond.

"As a matter of fact, no I do not remember. Probably because of how I stopped paying attention to you a long time ago while you were still in the midst of your lifelong streak of wrongness. If not that than maybe it's because my tendency to be right about many things much of the time has caused me to view 'being right about something' as a non-event. Just a normal daily occurrence. Nothing to see here, move along. Anyway, that's neither here nor there because this is your moment so congrats on your little thing or whatever and keep up the good work! "
