Anyone vpn from their laptop to their tower/server?

I saw someone mention on another thread that they always vpn to their desktop from their laptop which is a pretty good idea.

How many of you use VPN? What software do you use and why?

i use remote desktop between two laptops (mac and pc) to my tower pc on a daily basis. my tower is a bit older but i use it a lot for running processes and scripts. plus everything is on there and backed up to a nas drive nightly.

only thing i hate is i have a multi monitor setup on my tower and when i rdc in, it sometimes fucks up the layout of stuff (screen sizes, folder placement, etc).

remote desktop is easy to set up as long as you have a version of windows professional (XP pro is what i use). insert the disc and its on of the optional installs. then go thru your router and set your towers pc port to 3389 and rdc to your IP address.

Before I opened the thread I was going to say "I am not sure, but I saw someone mention that they do it earlier."

Apparantly you saw it too and I can't help.
