You all misunderstood my 'legal' angle. It is illegal, I understand that. I am questioning the validity of those laws. They could easily be challenged. Here are some double standards:
Boxers box each other for money, gambling, entertainment. That's two humans fighting. The dogs don't HAVE to fight each other, they just DO. It could be argued that the dog fighting trained a dog for better protection like a sparing match for bozers.
Horses are forced to race each other and beaten with whips to perform.
Think of animals taken from their natural habitat and enslaved for carnivals or zoos. They generally all go insane from depression.
What about the cows and chickens SLAUGHTERED every day, watch some documentaries on those conditions, you might become a vegetarian.
My point is this. Fuck animals. Survival of the fittest. Animals should be used for food, clothes, transportion, entertainment, anything that we want. If a human goes out into the wild a lion would eat him faster than you could say Lion King. Listen, I am not some maniac that wants to go out and kill animals for no reason, but a dog is property, not a being. Why is killing a fly, mosquito, catching a fish, killing a mouse in your house, hunting deer, etc any different? Where do you draw the line? Seriously if I did rat fighting would anyone care? all 100% irrelevant. people create laws based on the times. sometimes they are irrational, sometimes illogical, sometimes totally arbitrary. just because one 18 year old is more or less mature than another doesn't mean there isn't a need to draw a line in the sand and say "once you are XX yrs old, you are considered an adult" for determining when a person should and should not be held accountable for their actions or if they can vote, drink, drive or whatever.
you keep trying to point out contradictions in human behavior as if no one understands this. ... as if you just figured something out that no one caught on to yet. my guess is that you are very young.
besides, the dogs DO have to fight each other. do you understand what they go through to be made vicious? do you understand that Vicks property had like 40 corpses of dogs that just weren't up to the task or lost and were tortured and killed? are you now suggesting that two pit bulls, trained to fight, started, made mean and then thrown into a fight to the death have the option of just laying down and not fighting? they should just talk about it? hug it out?

A dog is generally known as a pet. Do you know anyone that keeps flies or a mouse as a bet?but a dog is property, not a being. I will put one more set of comments on this.
#1 - Shouldn't he be banned from the NFL for his association with gambling? Dog fighting is about gambling and illegal. I would think that is enough to warrant banning him.
#2 - He deserves pretty much the worst punishment that you can think of if for no other reason than putting a multi-million dollar career in the shitter, just to fight dogs! It isn't like he was going to make millions fighting dogs, so WTF??? Did he need more fame and street cred? No, he was a fuck-tard that screwed himself out of ~$50,000,000. The treatment of dogs has special cultural underpinnings. Vick grew up in this culture so he knows how dog fighting would be viewed by the general public and the law.
That being said, it's still unnerving to hear people wish for the death of somebody based on his/her treatment of animals. Theoretically, none of us have to eat meat; by doing so we take an animals life just because we like the taste and other conveniences. They're slaughtered by the millions.
Dogs are eaten in other countries. Cockfighting, I believe, is legal in South America. Horses break legs in races and have to be killed. Bull riding is cruel as is a number of other sports or entertainment involving animals (think: circus). Certain types of hog hunting is brutal, and pigs are "smart" like dogs - at least as far as projecting human-like traits onto animals is concerned.
I think somebody that hurts animals is more capable of hurting people, and wanton suffering to animals is wrong and needs to be punished in civilized society. I think prison and a fine suffices. Wishing death upon somebody is a bit overboard.Comment
