His alma mater is the University of Illinois. No too far from where I grew up, it was a good time hanging out there, some of the best in fact.
When I lived in central Illinois and sought camera advice, I hit up this photographer who was renowned in the area. He told me a story how Hugh got around to introducing himself to him when he was young and wanted his graphic design expertise.
He showed me a lot of techniques and I got ahead of myself and showed him my Johnny Load videos, he was slightly repulsed
Oops. Lesson: Don't show more than you have to!
He did give some good standard techniques, told me some good stories, what most elderly people do. A bit of a homophobe but whatever.

From what I remember they bought rights to use the stills that were nudes of Marilyn Monroe.
He also works his ass off. In a documentary he was describing a certain drug (don't recall) but he loved it because he didn't have to sleep and could therefore get a lot more work done.Comment
