There's a time to keep things under wraps, and there's a time for openness.
We supposedly live in a Republic, not a tyranny - not in a dictatorship. The citizens are supposed to be ultimately responsible for the course of our government in a Republic.
As prompted by our founding fathers, it's out _Responsibility_ to keep our government in check. There's nothing more American.
Our current government has lied to us time and time again. That's not the way things are supposed to work. They're supposed to be accountable to us.
Unless, of course, you favor the devolvement of our now quasi-republic into a police state/dictatorship.-D.

There is a difference between lying and withholding information. I know the government has lied to the population of both the country and the world, I can't argue that point. But, they also withhold information that would compromise the integrity of the situation. I bet you were one of the many that dogged Haraldo for drawing up troop positions in the sand and now you would like the government to do just that?
What I'm saying, and have been saying throughout this entire thread is that there is a lot more going on than any of us know or will ever know, so making decisions based on lacking information isn't something I tend to do. I agree that something needed to be done with the situation that was and still is brewing in the middle east, I don't, however, agree with how this war has been fought and many of the decisions that have been made.

Seriously buzzy - they all lie. Iran lies, the US lies ad nausea... and, in the end - Iran will have nuclear capability along with any other countries who are threatened. Sadly - it makes sense, but sure not helpful.
Iran was messed with for decades by the US and then dumbo George opened his stupid mouth and threatened with his unoriginal "axis of evil" term. What did the "axis of evil" do? Arm themselves. Of course they are going to take whatever steps needed to have whatever weaponary as defense against predatory activity.
It'a a foul arguement that one kid on the block is entitled to have arms and others should not. None of them can be trusted with shit, whether they currently have nuclear capability or not.
Add to that, the hypocracy being displayed is a sad joke. The US has no problems with eg Pakistan or Egypt having nukes. At the same time Iran has nuclear neighbors - what are they expected to do??
Then there are the "agendas" - the only reason the US govt is in the Middle East relates to oil. Of course they don't want Iran to have more powerful weapons - they have tried to decades to control oil (tho it does not belong to them) and failed. The concept of Iran having nuclear capability places hopes of oil control even further away.

Why do you say that? In any of the posts in this or any other thread have you seen me say that we should nuke them?
It cracks me up that because my opinion on this subject is different from most of yours, that somehow makes me stupid. As with most contreversial topics on this board, everyones opinion seems to be fact and anyone who has an opinion that differs is now somehow labeled as having too little brain power to breathe.

I'm not sure of anything, that's why I'm not making assumptions. This is what I've been saying this entire time. I don't have all of the information and I'm not pretending to have all of the information like many of the people bashing me here. There is so much more going on then what you or I know about.

No, I've been told by people who were in situations much like the one we are currently in that the reports that make the news are mostly false and don't contain nearly half the story. I take what the mainstream media reports with a grain of salt because I know that they all spin stories to further their own agendas. One event can be covered by multiple media agencies and they will all have different info and angles.
What I'm saying is that there is always more to the story then what is reported and to say otherwise is pretty dumb.Comment
