Hey part-timers, ever calculate this before???

Ever sit down and calculate the amount of time you spend on doing affiliate webmaster work to see what your hourly rate is on average?

If you are doing it right, you should be making income now and also for years to come... so if you take the future income into account too, it would be pretty hard to not get decent hourly rate....

I look at this business almost as a sort of investment. What I make today on any given action is not a true valuation of that action. Frankly, I think if you are looking at this from a per our standpoint today, you will never get past part-time status.

Invest time. Invest money. Invest resources. If you aren't willing to do those things, you may as well go work a part-time job where you know exactly what you will be making.

            Exactamundo.

You should be investing to scale. Invest in automation as you can afford too. Invest in more resources when possible. Whether labor, content, traffic, etc.. You will be able to start accomplishing more in your 8 hour work day with this sort of re-investment. Hence, make more money. This isn't rocket science.

Solid point Sly. I was thinking short sighted I guess. I need not worry about this due to the fact that the number isn't going to get me to stop doing this and go find a PT job. This is not my M.O. Long term residual income is and capital to make even bigger moves than just a small blog network.

I actually need to scale up more in writing. I need to find more writers that will do hand written posts for me as the individual I'm using now is great but they are consumed as well.

My main objective is to take this money saved and create a real internet business based on a product or service sales and not just affiliate earnings. I have a long hard working road ahead still though. Keeps me busy though I guess.

I used to work 3-4 hours a day, but was making a full time income of between $15-18 an hour if I had worked a full 8 hour day, but I only worked at most half that. Was a nice gig, but it's since slowed down.

I think I paid $15 for my VideosZ review, and it's made over $30,000 and counting so far. They don't all work so well, of course.

That's $30k earned revenue just for that ONE REVIEW you have?

Which brings me to another question. What is the average price to pay in your opinion for getting reviews done for a review site (blog)?

the internet is constantly changing, the time you are spending and what you are building now could very easily be completely worthless in a year

You need to consider time building your site, doing marketing all all that (otherwise review won't make you any money if posted on empty site with no traffic)

Yeah just the one review. Someone like TheBestPorn would do that every year on many, many sites.

Maybe $5-20 depending on length of the review, quality of the person doing it, how long they've been with you, etc.

As others have mentioned, set things up so they continue making money without needing any - or much - further work. Even a monthly dribble of funds from one small site adds up to a lot in the long term... just make more of them.

Doing straight 1:1 work ($x per hour) means your income stops the moment you do.

I am sure my hourly rate for my adult web marketing is under the federal governments minimum wage law. When I initially started my adult marketing business I had plans for this to become full time pay for me.

The advice I have taken and choices I have made have not generated the kind of income that I could do anything more with than take my family on an okay but not a nice vacation every year.

I was sitting at a yogurt shop across the walkway from a toy store that sold figurines and models. There were a few guys going into the store and purchasing these small trinkets and this started a conversation between my eating companions and myself.

Guys who home and spend hours painting the most minute details on toy solids and figurines most likely find a lot of stress relief in the process of focusing so intently on the job at hand. You most likely forget about the days work and get a time to just be mellow. I guess it's kind of like drinking beer for some. Well my webmaster duties have become that for me.

While I would like to turn this into a money making enterprise it is okay if it doesn't happen because I do find some enjoyment from work I am doing on my own.

I agree. I stopped actively promoting other peoples stuff to concentrate on my own, in mid 2006...

I still get checks today for stuff I did pre 2006, and I have not looked at it since then. OK, its not HUGE cash, but a few hundred dollars or so a month, for stuff I did 5 years ago, cant be sniffed at...

Not before, but I just did. Average monthly income divided by typical hours-worked-month.

I'm quite ok with that figure. It's an order of magnitued better than I'd get flipping burgers and I don't get greasy smoke smell in my hair.
