when I went to see my dad earlier today he seemed to know who we all were. He wasn't doing any better, but I could tell by his facial expression and his eyes that he knew who we were. (my bother, his wife, my sister, her boyfriends and I)
Also had a weird dream last night. We (the people mentioned above) were all sitting in the living room when we heard the door open. We didn't think anything of it and just continued talking. 1 minute later my dad walks into the living room and we were all shocked. He say "What's going on?". After that the dream ended.ICQ: 16544251 - Skype: gator37 @ eastlink.ca - email: yngwie @ isys.caComment

I feel for you.
I don't think it's Alzheimer's. That disease tends to progresses slowly, it doens't hit like a brick wall. People with Alz become increasingly forgettable and disoriented over a relatively long period of time.
They are probably are unsure what caused your dad's escalating problems. It may have been related to his surgery in some strange way, or it may have been a freak coincidence that one small problem preceeded a larger one.
Whatever happened I hope he pulls out of it fine.
You're right that there is no God. At least not a wholly benevolent one.Comment

I'm so sorry to hear that but, i think if there is one to blame here it's the doctors who did the operation. i lost my mom four years ago of colon cancer and it's because of a fucking mis diagnosis. sometimes, it's them at fault, not god, not your dad.. i pray that your dad will be better..

Sorry to hear about that man...
I lost my Dad in 2005 after taking care of him in house with my wife for 4 years. He declined slowly and it was hard to watch but I cherish every last moment we had together.
I hope things work out for you and your family.Comment

It's all in the hands of the doctors. I really hope there's something that they can do to make him better and he can be home for christmas.
thanx man. That means a lot.
ya, it's a very scary thing. I'm staying strong, but it's still very hard. I'm glad that your dad pulled through. How is he doing now? Still good?
I don't believe in god. I may have when I was a kid since we are basically forced to, but as an adult I do not believe and never will. Yes, what I said may sound very bad to ones that do believe, but it's just the way that I feel.
Thanx Trixxxia. Positive thoughts are always good. The whole family is trying to be as positive as they can.ICQ: 16544251 - Skype: gator37 @ eastlink.ca - email: yngwie @ isys.caComment

this is a pic of my dad from last year at my bro's wedding reception. He is on the right, his wife is next to him and the 2 other people were our next door neighbors many years ago.

My mom is battling cancer at the moment - so I know how you feel, it's hard. Give support to your family when you can and accept it graciously when offered. It's a tough and horrible thing seeing a loved one in distress.
I can only offer my best wishes from a stranger on a board but I do really wish you the best getting through this.
It's not easy but I keep telling myself it's doable and very very needed.

Sorry to hear about your dad, in March it will be 3 years since my father died of a massive heart attack, i know how you feel with the sudden shit, as my dad was fine and everything, no signs of anything, and boom while strapping a load outside of Chicago he has a heart attack killing him before he hit the ground, 4 major arteries 100% clogged, he was young too, turned 48 years old 3 days before he died.Comment

he went into the hospital for an operation for tic doloreux, came through that ok and they sent him home - then he rapidly got sick with all these bad things and they still have nothing to say on what happened?

don't think about of losing him yngwie. spend more time to him, take care and comfort him, that will make him better, though he's experiencing lots of pain.

I'm doing everything I can. I just wish I could be there more though. It's hard for me to get around since I have a leg disability that makes it next to impossible for me to walk, no drivers license and no car. Also, the only people that can drive me there work all day and after work, if I'm lucky, they will bring me to the hospital. So I do what I can even though I want to do much more.ICQ: 16544251 - Skype: gator37 @ eastlink.ca - email: yngwie @ isys.caComment

well, like you said, you hope whatever is best happens. I know that if my dad makes it out of this, but is like a vegetable he would not want to go on. He has talked about that with us (the kids) before. If he makes it out of this being the way he was before than it would be perfect.
There are only 2 outcomes in this. Good or bad and there's no way of knowing which it will be. Not yet anyway.

I went to the hospital again earlier this morning. The nurse was a bit of a cunt so I put her in her place. I wasn't mean or anything, just put her in her place as nicely as I could. She got lucky.
We were told again that they have no idea what's causing this and they did many tests. 3 CT scans with contrast, spinal taps etc.. What pissed me off is the fact that we were also told that ANOTHER doctor who only comes on the weekends said that my dad had fluid on the brain. Well why in the fuck aren't they DRAINING the fucking shit???
They wonder why he's the way he is? The damn fluid on the brain is more than likely one of the causes. Looks to me like the doctors in this fucking town are fucking morons and the nurse... Don't get me started on that. I think we should send my dad to Toronto where he will be better looked after by SMART doctors.

ok now I'm more pissed. I was just informed that my dad's wife asked the doctors for my dad to send him to Toronto and they said no. Hmmm are they scared that they will get proven to be morons or that it was THEIR fucking fault?ICQ: 16544251 - Skype: gator37 @ eastlink.ca - email: yngwie @ isys.caComment

My mother in laws neighbor was diagnosed with leukemia at one hospital and later died from the medication/treatment because they misdiagnosed him and the shit ran wild all while they were "treating it"...
the 2nd hospital caught it 3 weeks before he died :/Comment

I'm sorry to hear about your father. Everything you're describing sounds like what my grandpa went through when he was dying of cancer. He was up and down, sometimes looking like he wasn't going to live for another day, and then one day he was up and fixing things around the house... and then 24 hours later he died.
It sounds like cancer to me.Comment

nah - too coincidental that the man went into the hospital for tic doloreux which has nothing to do with cancer/leukemia and 2 days later he comes down with all this stuff. if his leukemia was at risk somehow from the operation for tic doloreux they would have told him that before.I'm sorry to hear about your father. leukemia in older people can be a pretty manageable disease for many many years.
medical treatment is russian roulette - they screw up far more than most people know - we expect doctors to be infallible which I guess is unfair but not when it's you or your family's life at risk.I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. ya, all of this has nothing to do with the leukemia. This, to me, sounds more like a bacterial infection in the brain that happened during the operation OR after due to not closing up the cut properly.nah - too coincidental that the man went into the hospital for tic doloreux which has nothing to do with cancer/leukemia and 2 days later he comes down with all this stuff. if his leukemia was at risk somehow from the operation for tic doloreux they would have told him that before.

They seem to be ignoring the fact that he has fluid on the brain which will make a person the way my dad is right now.ICQ: 16544251 - Skype: gator37 @ eastlink.ca - email: yngwie @ isys.caComment

I'm going to make a few calls to the "higher ups" at the hospital and get some shit done and I'm not going to be nice about it. I'm going to get shit done right. I know damn well that if they send him to Toronto that he would have a 95% chance of making it out of this ok.
If they keep him here he will only get worse because they are fucking morons.ICQ: 16544251 - Skype: gator37 @ eastlink.ca - email: yngwie @ isys.caComment

Earlier today I contacted one of the board of directors member of the hospitals here and they put me in contact with someone that can help me. I threatened them with lawyers. I just have to wait for this person to contact me. I tried to call, but this person was not in the office, but I left a message.
I will get my fucking way whether they like it or not.ICQ: 16544251 - Skype: gator37 @ eastlink.ca - email: yngwie @ isys.caComment

Thanks for asking - she had quite a few organs removed - bladder, uterus, ovaries, etc... and is now in the midst of chemo.
She has however proven herself to be stronger than I could have imagined and her oncologists are optimistic.

Hope your dad has a speedy recovery.Comment
