All these cam sites starting up?

    Hi
So I take it they are not coding the cam sites from scratch, where do I get the software from?

    Thanks

There's a guy on here advertising his software, forget the name right now but I'm sure he'll chime in soon enough.

Building it is the cheap part IMO

Paying for marketing and filling it with hot chicks is where most people struggle.

SOFTWARE is probably easy to get...

Now tell me how you work on the part where you need a huge apartment with many rooms and hire models to start the cam site?..

Thats not the best way to do it.

It is easier for new sites to hire chat models to work from home first, and pay them commission only.

It is BETTER if you have your own studio of course because you can control the environment, look, lighting, camera, sound, and quality of your content.

However with your own studio you have to pay rent, taxes, heat & AC, electricity, Connection etc so it's not something to do lightly.

Yes you can do it in a residential location like an apartment but this isn't recommended. You have nosy neighbours, sound penetration, and unforgiving landlords to worry about. Commercial space is much better if you can afford it.

There are off the shelf packages these days, just buy and install. Sometimes I go google search for one of the foot prints so I can see who has bought that software recently.

Great way of finding a lot of dead, unused cam sites. Very very occasionally I find one that is actually functional, as in there are girls online and customers. Very rare though.

Its not that there is anything wrong with the packages, it's just that they get bought by people who think that putting down a few hundred for a package and a server is a "big investment", and have no idea that they need big bucks to actually have any chance of launching a competitive cam site.

Even a few I've seen which are set up by ex, or current, cam models who should have *some* idea of the economics of the thing are still flops.

I think everybody underestimates the cost of getting the right kind of traffic, and how much you are going to have to pay girls to perform to empty rooms until things get started.

What he said. After operational cam software is done (so such expense is done) then you need very minimum $100,000 first 2 months for advertising + bonus for girls to be onine in "empty rooms" (even if rooms are not empty, never in a new site the pay users are enough to keep a girl/studio interested for more than 7 days).
In general you need to do this for first 6 or better 12 months so you need an half million dollar really - as elsewhere discussed. That being all investment in loss.
After - eventually - you can start make profit, then to get back the half million, and after this, start to make real income.
                        Good luck

There is not a single off the shelf package that can run an active site without at least some behind the scenes modification by somebody who knows how to manage a cam site.

                          Not one.

Also the old cam softwares was a clone of livejasmin, while today it is required more a clone of myfreecams, and there's not much of that, you still find old style softwares for sale, as developers had not enough customers to make it worth to update or rewrite these packages really. Some still use java applets instead of flash (I checked your site it uses java, altough is common in filipina themed sites). So all of the big or even medium cam sites got 100% custom software... this further make difficult for "shelf package" sellers to find good and steady paying customers, to fund them to update shelf package software enough.

Still what it matters even if there was available an opensource, free and well working 100% clone of myfreecams (or streamate, livejasmin, whatever) aong with consultants who can install and configure for anyone very cheap, those sites would be all dead... since models would not be online if there's no guys and guys not if there's girls, so it is needed $100,000's of bonus to girls + advertisings for months before the site it stabilizes with regular pay users enough to keep girls there even if you do not pay girls a bonus to just sit online.

Given this, doing the cam software custom it is just a so small cost compared to the marketing that it makes sense to do it custom.

I can disclose that talking with "more than one major sellers of cam shelf softwares" they joked with me on the fact they make money off the delusional guys (include ex cam customers , or ex models who find a cam customer to fund their project) who think they will make lots of money by setup a cam site and send there a few yahoo and skype contacts they fished in cam sites, "then affiliates will bring the rest" or dreams like that.
Ratio of success it is 1 every 50 customers, but at average $5000 per customer, that it was a good business; lately there are less of those new cam site launches from shelf softwares, that's all custom ones it seems (this does not mean it will not fail).
