    Pay Per Signup Q?

    Here is my dilemna:

When working inside one of my webmaster accounts and checking my webmaster stats, I found I had several signups appearing in my stats.

However, no money was being shown. So, I write the sponser and inquire as to why this is so. This is the question:

    ***

Message: I thought I had selected pay per signup

Over the Course of one and a half months, I see at least
18 signups. What is the criteria I am missing that this
is not showing up as a payment.

This is an equivalent of $630 - please let me know what
    I am missing here.

    This is their reply:

    Message: Hi Nicholas

    Those are Free Email Signups,

It is when a surfer signs in and makes a free account to use the freechat.

We do not pay for that, as only a email is required to sign up for that.

You get paid ASAP the surfer pulls his card and uses any of our payment options.

    Best Regards Conny

So I replied again and said:

    Conny,

I have never heard of this.

Any other cam site that offers pay per signup pays, when the
surfer or visitor, fills in his username, password and email
    address.

Your site, upon visiting it, even states this "Free Signup".
Which in turn allows the surfer, free access to your site.
Where they can freely chat, see model bios, and much
more without any money put forth.

If you mean that a user now has to verify his account
through the use of a credit card, online check, personal
check or other means of payment, before a webmaster
affiliate is paid, then this to me and to many others, is
    not "Pay Per Signup".

According to your records on my account since February,
2007 "44 signups" occured. This is an equivalent to a
payment of $1540.00. (Does not include the $100 PPS
special you now have going on). Saying otherwise
    is misleading and fraudulent.

You do not make a distinction between a "Free Email
Signup" and a "Verified Account Signup". No where in
your terms of service or within the webmasters account
area. Nothing says the signup is not complete until the "Free
Signup" is verifiied by use of a credit card or other effective
    means of payment.

Please let me know how you feel about this reply and how
we are going to rectify this situation.

My question here is, what do you think? Do you feel that a PPS is
payable upon the original signup of the surfer or payable upon verification
    of the surfers account?

Personally, any other PPS that I am involve with Pays, as soon as the
user establishes the account. Whether they verify that account or even
    spend money.

    What are your thoughts?

    I got it now

What this particular sponser was saying is that they do not pay per signup but they pay per order.

To me there is a distinct difference. A signup occurs when a person joins a site and an order occurs when someone purchases something.

So for those of you who are thinking about joining a sponsor or those of you sponsors who are reading this, please make sure you know what you are doing.

pay per signup means per credit card signup - that is the industry standard.

You didn't think you were going to get paid 35$ for someone entering their email address and choosing a username and password did you?

it's paid per free signup that turns into a paid signup.

IE if the user makes ANY order, that account is a paid signup, you get the payout. This is no matter how many orders that particular account makes, you still only get the $35 or whatever the payout is.

In a partnership or revshare, you would make a percentage of every order each customer makes.

          Three Types of Signups

          Ben,

I have several large sponsors that pay with just an email, username and password. They seem to have no problem paying good money with just this type of signup, "Free Signup".

And this is basically what we are looking at here, now, is the various types of signups there are. "Free Signup", "Verified Signup", "Per Order Signup".

No matter how you slice this pie, if you say you "Pay Per Signup", depending on the type of signup you offer at the front end of your site, "Free, Verified or with an order, (i.e., must enter CC, Check or phone #)". It all equates to a legitimate signup, once a surfer is turned into a user/member and has access to your membership section of your site.

I have a membership site. And all they have to do is enter their name, username and email and they are signed up. So are you saying this is not a signup? Then I must be missing something terribly.

To clarify, the three types of known signups:

          Free
          Verified
          Per Order

Free you enter just an email.
Verified you use a credit card to verify you are 18 or older.
Per Order, means you purchase a membership or premium services.

And whatever one you use on the front end of the site, is the one that constitutes a legitimate signup.

              All I can say is:

I'm thankful that I know where I stand now.

You answered my question, what I was missing?

Like I said I got it now and I understand what you are saying.

Not that I agree with what you are saying but I understand it.

I appreciate your quick reply to my question and even your coming to reply here.

              Thanks,
              Nick
