Self regulation / enforcement where we would have better control of scum.... where people can't scam thousands, disappear and return with a fake nick to do it all over again.
This includes CP and other blatantly illegal activities done in the name of porn. -

- Spamming destroyed the mail communication
- due to shady rebill practices surfers are scared to pay online unless they are ten times assured it's allright
- less free content
- programs are madly overpaying affiliates to get at least a share of the pie - and it's not those who built their exclusive content library and after working their way up were able to raise their payouts (that would happen anyway)
Just from the outer perspective - I don't know of any other business to get a minimum of 50 pct. commission to sell someone elses product - interesting that for example in Germany it's still membership based paysites that pay less than 50pct. (but also programs paying 44 EUR / signup) :2centLast edited by CarlosTheGaucho; 11-23-2007, 04:33 PM.Need hosting, cloud, CDN or solutions for your AI? Fixin it is my plan
The big money in adult is in high quality crossover sites that are naughty but nice and appeal to a general audience like ms and ggw. That's where the big money is in adult and will always be.
Although hardcore is a big niche...it will never appeal to the general public or be mainstream.
The ggw's with quality and class that can tease will rule and crossover to the masses...
Gagging and degrading women never will

You can say that again. According to USA Today: Spam mail has now outpaced Legit mail.
"This year marks the first time the total number of spam e-mail messages sent worldwide, 10.8 trillion, will surpass the number of person-to-person e-mails sent, 10.5 trillion, according to market researcher IDC."

You are so right. Also it would of been all real names,no fake names. It makes it easy to be a scumbag when hiding behind a nick.Comment

We should have formed a more cohesive industry unit to control things like billing, spam and definitely free content. The big guys allowed all kinds of young reckless guys to spam and give out content willy nilly. They could have controlled that much better. Billing was a bigger issue.
What's amazing to me is how small this industry is. A couple of years ago you could have dropped a bomb in the hotel during internext and completely shut down 90% of the paysites online.
All of the big players know each other well, so there's no excuse for a lot of the things that have been allowed to happen.
Everything else has progressed pretty well. The business unity is the only thing that should have been changed.Last edited by Pornwolf; 11-23-2007, 07:14 PM.I've trusted my sites to them for over a decade...

I would like to see that all evil doers who give online adult industry a bad vibes in the eye of general public never came to exist. That involves spamming, installing trojans, personal information abuse, cheaters (advertising teen website while inside offering 16 year olds wearing pony tails and school dresses as if people were this stupid to not know), etc. Everything that gives adult industry bad name and makes it difficult for sincere guys who wish to provide quality service I wish never existed

Limit the amount of free content in the name of promotion. I know webmasters want the exposure to get the hits, but it's just getting crazy. Today any knowleagable surfer knows that they don't need to pay anything to see porn.Comment

Not to worry.. In that the industry has no clue as to how to self-regulate, the gov't. will be forced to finally dive in and succeed at getting laws passed that will pretty well kill it for U.S. webmasters..Comment

you can't regulate renegades. any nitwit with 500 bucks goes to best buy and becomes a "webmaster"
a large percentage of people here making problems for programs and those that bust their ass day in and day out to turn a good product don't even do a sale a year, or one ever for that matter. you make a nick, smack a few big name posters around, don't have to prove who you are, and suddenly you're a someone who matters. we've seen several examples of this lately.
thats why i give not two cents even of credibility to anything read on gfy or the internet for that matter. too many self declared pinnacles of nothing.
for the month.

Yeah - virtual existence is a virtual existence and you can play with it. Unfortunately, it's not always amusing.
I have actually met a couple of people who are MASSIVE in the online contact but almost pathetic in a personal contact / some of them even refuse the real life contact - worse are those who hide deliberately.
In my theory you are hidden behind your online identity either because you are:
a) keyboard impotent - you are not self confident in personal contact and real life so you have your online alter ego that is everything you always wanted to be
b) scum - you deliberately create myths about yourself to trick someone into buying a scum product etc.

The online industry screwed itself 20 times more than offline.
This may be attributable to the ease of buying a computer and learning 20 html tags. Seriously don't consider people to be in the "adult industry" simply because they bought a few domains, have a net connection and can write some html - they just clog the industry up with nonsense and will be gone and the next intake will start and fail...Comment

That doesn't make any sense.
Airlines, automakers, hollywood, realtors.... hell, just about every industry has regulations that they must abide to. They have sites online and yet are able to be regulated without changing the whole internet.
Think about it.Comment
-
You were talking about scum/scammers.
Airlines don't work with affiliate software. They use CC's so there is a possibility: phising sites. Same goes for online banking. Loads of people get fished and fucked.
Who buys a 30k car online with a stolen CC?
No wait...who would ACCEPT 30k online via just a CC and then ship out the card?
There's virtually no way to have ONLINE MARKETING in the ADULT industry that can ward off scammers UNLESS you change the internet on a basic level.
Scammers thrive in this business because of the small amounts per transaction and the fact that the whole business relies on affiliate software AND credit cards.
So...to come back to the original question: if you could reinvent the ONLINE ADULT MARKETING INDUSTRY(so, the way you advertise and get sales!).
Your answer came down to changing the basics of the internet(which is really the only way to get rid of scammers, I agree.). Which wasn't the question.
But it's fair to say that you'd have to reinvent the whole bunch with the current internet basics as in, IP's, TCP/IP protocol etc etc.
Inherently to that, it's vulnerable to scammers.
So the question: how would you reinvent the adult online marketing(again: adult, not aviation, realtors or whatever) based on the current, flawed technology.
I guess this post doesn't make my point any clearer

I know there's software that gets close to that...changes the domain name every time you log in.. you can't use downloaders to get the content.. has to be one by one... so if you've got a few thousand pics and hundreds of videos, it makes it hard for the surfer to download your whole members area in an hour.
DRM and a custom viewer sounds like the ONLY way to make it work...can't see surfers trusting that solution in porn.. we all know what an extra EXE download does to trust...
