Sell to me - I'll sign up

Ok, I'll sign up for a trial of whatever you're promoting, as long as its legal

Here's the deal - reply to this thread with your icq and we'll chat.

Of course, I'd like you to do the same for me - but I don't promote adult stuff, and most trial stuff is free anyway.

If you actually want me to spend a dollar or two - I can do that too.

I had always wondered what's behind the door number 1...

Fucking scammer. I hope if you're doing this with other webmasters that the affiliate programs you promote on PPS with trials cancel all of your accounts.

Ok like you're in first grade..

You're Webmaster A looking for Webmasters B and C. Webmasters A, B and C promote affiliate programs 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Affiliate programs 1, 2, 3 have pay sites that have cheap/free or free trials that pay a comission of say $35.

You are asking for a Webmaster B and C to click through your links to buy a cheap trial then cancel at affiliate program 1. You get $35 for each sale from affiliate program 1 even though they have no chance of anything recurring to a full monthly rebill because they're not real consumer purchased. Then you're saying to Webmasters B and C that you will do the same thing via their links to Affiliate Programs 2 and 3. Essentially, all of you end up defrauding multiple affiliate programs.

The short version: Programs that give Pay-Per-Signup do so only for legitimate consumer traffic, anything else is pure fraud.

Why is this a scam? It's an honest exchange.

Of course, I can sign up for any trial just by clicking a random link with some random promoter form a random site. Which is no different from me clicking on a particular link and signing up anyway.

So, if someone derives a benefit, why can't this be reciprocated? Security traders do this all the time without violating any of the SEC rules. Just, please, don't start discussion about SEC rules

Brad, thank you for a nice overview. Finally a nice answer.

I would agree that it goes against the spirit, but I don't see it going against any kind of agreements or set of rules (i.e. not illegetimate).

Also, who said that I am not a real customer - whatever my intentions are. If your service is great - why won't I be a continous customer?

As I said in my first post - I always wondered what's behind the door number 1 - and I just found a way to get compensated a bit for doing what I always wanted to do anyway.

If you actually read the terms of service of every affiliate program you'll find this activity totally precluded, even on rev-share type accounts. What you say sounds nice in theory but could never be a reality. Under the guise of doing this to make money, the sponsors don't have a chance of anything ever recurring. Insult to injury is the chargeback risk - that you or anyone else might ultimately decide that you don't want to pay the bill when it comes.. or that six months down the road you want to chargeback 10 items from each of a 5 month period. That seriously costs the sites, not just the dollars, but it puts their merchant accounts at risk.

Actually this activity is not precluded. What is precluded is a massive scale cancellations and chargebacks (as solely judged by a company - no benchmarks).

I understand chargebacks and had been on the receiving side of that nightmare too - I'd rather return the money then being charged back.

Nevertheless, the TRIAL accounts are just that - tiral. Whether or not a trial converts to a sale with rebills - that's a completely different story.

Guys, what I am proposing, really, is no different than TrialPay (look it up) - but I cut out the middle man.

In all seriousness, you have to agree that this approach just goes against your business model.

It's fraud, you WILL be caught, banned and not paid. The whole point of a trial is to monetize member traffic to either (a) stay with the site or (b) purchase something else. It is the ONLY way to turn $1+ trial into a $35+ payout.

At first I was guessing this is a fishing thread to find scamming webmasters and out them. I'm not so sure now.

                                                This thread is fucking retarded.

I understand the business idea between $1 trails and $35 payouts. However, you'd agree that there are conversion ratios. Traffic converts to trials, trials convert to sales.

The biggest problem is - you cannot differentiate the INTENT based on an action, and as such there's nothing illegal or immoral about this. In other words - there's nothing different between me and the next guy.
