If that doesn't work and you get "/etc/X11/X is not executable" then do this as root:
apt-get --reinstall install xserver-xorg-core

then
dpkg-reconfigure -a

When you are running, e2fsck partition should be unmounted, like a live CD or USB or something like that.

That's an IP to your local network, you need to provide an external IP to your machine.
