Well if you just mean ANY case involving adult content, I'm guessing quite a few. We don't hear about all the smaller ones, and most cases aren't consequential for the whole industry -- just for the people involved.

I don't know of any recent ones of significance.

If I were Lawley and ICM on THIS one, I'd be looking for a way to buy myself out of this case. Not sure if he agrees with me, we'll see.

Notice how they've changed the comment process.

You used to be able to just send an email. Now you have to register at their site first. Result: a more time intensive commenting processes that results in fewer comments.

If I thought that they cared about comments, registering would be fine because it would make it harder some someone to send in 1000 comments appearing to be from different people.

But... I don't think they care either way.

Yeah, plenty of shit goes to verdict. It's just not all posted about.

Whether this goes to verdict or not... I think those support letters being released would provide us with a LOT of clarity.

Fantastic news, whether you believe in adding more TLDs or not, ICM and ICANN are crooked and they deserve to be taken down.

if someone can win it, is Manwin. They have the money and the power to fight it.

ICM should have played ball and given Manwin all those free domains they demanded.

Stewart Lawley, bow before Fabian and kiss the ring. Or be destroyed.

Commenting is great and all, but IMO the most effective way to forestall ICM's application for .sex, .adult and .porn would be to file an objection under one or more of the four grounds for objection that are delineated in the gTLD Applicant Guidebook. Filing a formal objection effectively forces ICANN to answer to your complaints; in comments, ICANN may or may not address your complaints at all.

IMO, for most people who object to the ICM's applications, the two strongest candidates among the four possible grounds for objection are the "limited public interest" and "community" objections.

The bad news, of course, is that filing such an objection costs money, you have to pay separately for each type of objection that you file, and the fees are not insubstantial.

If anybody is interested, there's a lot more detail about all of this in this post from last summer.
