Plus you don't need codec packs on Win 7 to watch every format of movie out there. Just install haali media splitter and you are ready to go. Codec packs are such a pain in the ass.

The first issue was fixed in Vista AFAIR. As about the codec packs, I have installed both klite 32bit and klite 64bit on my Windows 7 to make it support all codecs I need. I would do the same for Vista.
