Although...Vista's been rather stable on my Acer laptop.

No desire to upgrade to Win7 anytime soon.

Yep. All my windows boxes (both XP Pro X64 and Win 7) use the Windows 2000 style classic theme.

Plus you don't need codec packs on Win 7 to watch every format of movie out there. Just install haali media splitter and you are ready to go. Codec packs are such a pain in the ass.

The first issue was fixed in Vista AFAIR. As about the codec packs, I have installed both klite 32bit and klite 64bit on my Windows 7 to make it support all codecs I need. I would do the same for Vista.
