While I totally agree that over years and years there has been the steady drop due to the free stuff and all other regular market forces - this downturn is way off the charts (literally - since I keep big charts) - the normal trend over the years has been around a 5% drop on some traffic a year - but easily made up for by doing something else/new - this drop in October was completely different and affected all types of traffic since it was on the processors' end - and was easily a sharp 20% drop overall - although I can make up for it with other programs - it was just interesting to see that it is(or seems to be) tied to something limited to the US credit card processing market

I agree with all of that. Processors most likely are a big part of why sales may be up and down from day to day, but most people think it is gas prices or the weather. I can see a processor making changes or having problems and everyone taking a hit.

Also I agree with the overall decline. Free porn is going to kill most traditional picture and video membership sites. thats a fact. But it is a slow gradual decline, wont happen over night and it wont be because of groundhog day or whatever other shit people blame their bad sales days on.

we have a small site so it probably will not affect us as much but nothing has changed at all. Best week ever was the one where ccbill was late with the checks. It went back to normal after that. 90% of my traffic comes from me though and what little I get is very good. My best affiliate has gone down some so there are areas you can see it . If I did not have my own traffic it would suck a lot more

been online since the end of 04, sales have been harder to get since the end of 05, now even harder.. too much competition on the web. We've been creative in order to maintain our cashflow and it AIN'T with an affiliate program. ( Affiliates count for 10-15% of our sales so it's really something we don't push anymore. The surfer is becoming a different animal and we are changing with the surfer

I blame spyware. If you look through the serps, all the successful spammers with parasite doorways on high trust hosting are sending their traffic to exploits rather than FPAs for affiliate programs... They must be infecting thousands upon thousands of people every day, and then those people are effectively lost to the legit adult market until they do a reformat.

Megarotic is #37 on alexa. Their last week average was #23. They will be a top 10 site I predict. Good luck trying to get people to pay $35 a month for a membership
