    If you have a cingular phone ANYONE can listen to your voicemails!!!

    I can prove it too. Give me your cingular cell number (please yours only) turn of your phone and let me call, I will tell you exactly the first message that plays. This is pretty scary stuff.

                      This is very simple we discovered this over 2 years ago when developing our voip project. We alerted this to Cingular/Att but they did nothing.

                      All that is required is that you setup your voip phones caller id to the same number as the cell phone and the voice mail lets you straight in.

                                                  please note this dosnt work if you have the password option set on your vm. also you dont need voip to do it granted thats probably the easiest way. you can do it via a pri circuit into your pbx and have your pbx change the cid. this has been a known issue for years even before voip had become popular. i think cingular dont really give a rats ass.

                                                          it works by using caller id spoofing... you just dial the number as theirs and if they dont pick up.. boom, your voicemail...
