You see no point in cash because you never use it. You walk into a store and use your debit card.
However, there are places that cannot use debit cards so easily. Oh, it's simple enough to set up, but you can't have everyone running around with a little debit machine.
My wife's volunteer organization is the perfect example. Every year they take in nearly $200k from various sources. They have some four hundred volunteers, and they can't have them running around with a dozen debit machines - the potential for fraud could be huge, and the potential for mistakes can be massive. Thus they have one debit machine, and one of six board members must be present when it's being used. They also take in money from raffle sales, cookie sales, event ticket sales, and then snack bar sales - all cash.
