GFY has devolved into basically a circle-jerk of sorts. Less new people are coming into the adult business; less newbies seeking out affiliate programs ...
Sure there's still lots of money in adult, and yes new adult sites, etc are still coming out ... but compared to mainstream, it's nothing - the fantastic heyday growth of on-line adult, where anyone could cash in, back in the late 90s and early 2000s is gone.
It's very telling that many high-profile / quality "adult" domains just pointing to parking these days instead of being developed.
Affiliate programs have stagnated ... ie. ARS (many other programs are in a similar situation) ... their affiliate forums area is like a ghost town - mostly staff and a few same people posting; seemingly not much happening.
The same old tired mostly graphical tour page formula, while it still works to some degree, is a very hard sell in an age of so much free content...
The very experienced adult promotors with a lot of financial / traffic resources are still earning great bank, even with the old formulas, but for most everyone else it's slim pickings ...
Rambling on, but point is there are relatively few newbies coming into this business - most folks these days are skipping adult and going mainstream.
Domain parking, google adsense and similar, etc are so much easier for newbies seeking to earn money on the net ... the forums geared towards such mainstream programs are growing by leaps and bounds while on-line adult is consolidating leaving less newbies to keep adult forums going - someone in another thread here on GFY the other day rattled off a whole list of adult webmaster forums that have stagnated / disappeared...
Could the same fate await GFY soon? ... some suggest that GFY may evolve into something else, such as, a limited access forum aimed mostly towards highly productive adult folks - that's not as crazy as it seems either when one considers that GFY has numerous "secret" forums already, which are reportedly getting more usage lately by many productive folks over the open forums.
