Clips4Sale People, I Have a Question. Step Inside.

Maybe this was something I missed somewhere, and it's not to accuse anyone first and foremost as I've been doing clips4sale for years now. Neil has always been a stand up guy.

That said, I was going over my different site's traffic logs and came across something called, tropical-productions.com. It was very odd because it had a url exactly like my clips4sale link, studio number, etc. So i investigate further.

Sure enough it's a carbon copy of my stores up to date. The top sold clips are completely different on my clips4sale store versus this tropical-productions.com listing.

    Exhibit A
    http://www.tropical-productions.com/studio/4057
    http://www.clips4sale.com/studio/4057

So I check the whois info on this different url.

Anyone know anything about this? Why are my stores mirrored on this tropical-productions.com, and where are these sales going?!?! The stores top sold clips are different, so this is obviously getting sales....

    Anyone?

Has the clips4sale studios always diverted to the www.bjorkmantranstech.com domain?

          Nope.

Funny. When I click the link in this thread (for my clips4sale store) I get redirected to the tropical-productions.com store. Same for the other link.

          The plot thickens...

                  Correct.

                  1. Where are those sales going?
                  2. Why is there a mirror?
                  3. and why is the clips4sale url redirecting?

I was about to go berserk a few days ago after adding several videos per day and not seeing 1 gawd damn sale. This of course has never ever happened. Typically I will see at least 1-4 sales every day I add even 1 video and I went nearly a week with new additions and no new sales. Then oddly today I landed 4 sales which sort of eased my shaving thoughts. Now I see this bullshit. WTF is up?

Domains diverting, new store, fuck I am getting concerned and I do not recall giving any other domains license to sell my shit.

there are a number of different url's that mirror the clips4sale stores. They move my stores around constantly, based on volume and traffic.

Sleepyhollow was the url for my store for a while, as well as a few others.
They also divert traffic for processing sales at different points of the day.

I had the same question at one point, worried that perhaps i was getting skimmed, so i actually bought clips via the different urls, and got the sales notices for all of them. I think it has to do with the fact that their traffic and volume fluctuates so wildly that they have some sort of overflow system in place for it. That's why not all the stores are all in the same place for overflow.

I've also had server upgrades and payouts happen on different days, depending on either volume or store numbers (haven't figured that out entirely yet).

Suncoastproductions.biz/studios/xxxx is the one that my store diverts to when i have good volume days.

i've also noticed this happens more often right before "server upgrade" error messages.

That info helps some darkcircus, however with my very flakey sales last week (like 7 new videos, several formats each, several speeds each) and walla no sales which has NEVER happened. Ontop of increased store traffic and even a good number of bookmark traffic. I was about to scream to holy hell.

Then like I said I got a few sales today that released a tiny bit of pressure with them. Though I am still highly concerned, something does not add up.

                            That I did know.

I was with C4S back in the days when they had run into that issue with PETA or whatever it was. So I know that now they have multiple to make sure that there is no issue like that ever again (good thinking).

But I have never seen this on my traffic log before. Not to say it may have never been there, but I've never noticed it prior.

Then when I did the whois, and saw a domain name registered for 1 year, and not matching clips4sale whois other than DNS servers I was like, um, ok what the fuck?

But I am not accusing C4S of skimming. I am mainly trying to find out what the hell, and if others have noticed, or dealt with this in the past and gotten an explaination.

I will say that i think that I've lost sales just due to their not being able to handle the traffic load at times, and I've gotten customer emails asking for help because they couldn't buy at some particular moment.

                                Ah. Interesting.

I normally do not get those messages unless I try and do an update around noon midday. So I avoid it.

I guess that is when they have insane traffic or something? Anyway, in all the years, I have never noticed a url redirection like this. So that was one of my first questions when the WHOIS doesn't match.

Then when I saw the top sale clips did not match, I was like, um ok what is going on here?

I can definately understand why that would cause concern, and I went through a similar deal with them not that long ago, and decided to dig myself.

Can it be possible that they are leasing domains or have purchased domains etc for overflow?

Also, i've notcies that people that use pure vanilla seem to track oddly too, and their hitting the back button will show a refferal in the traffic stats.

I have 1 store and 1 set of customers.
It is all exclusive material and not seeing a single sale in a week with increases in traffic and a sizable amount of bookmarker traffic something just seems amiss.

Yeah, they have HUGe trafic at about 9am, noon, 3pm, and about 6pm (all west coast time). I see the site go down around midnight west coast, with a "will return at 4am" message when it's down for me.

Last week was slow for one of my stores, and one of my lower performers had better sales.

I will say that i think that I've lost sales just due to their not being able to handle the traffic load at times, and I've gotten customer emails asking for help because they couldn't buy at some particular moment.
There is a method to the madness.

I have received e-mails from a few dozen... easily... asking why they are not getting good sales. I worked with a company that had me consult for them a few years back, and they were having issues turning C4S into a gold mine.

Personally I've always done very well with C4S every month. But I have heard of plenty who do not do well, and can't figure out why. Some are easy... Their content's garbage. Others, their descriptions suck ass. While others do no promotion of any kind and expect C4S to do everything for them, and sale are to roll in like a winning lotto ticket.

Neil does a lot of good promo stuff with the site to drive additional traffic. But ultimately the site is not just a few hundred stores anymore. You are swimming with the sharks baby. So you have some SERIOUS competition now a days.

You must figure out what works for your shit, and promote the hell out of it.

I understand, and that does seem odd. I've had some slow days, but I don't think i've gone more than a day without a sale since the month I launched.

Can it be possible that they are leasing domains or have purchased domains etc for overflow?

Also, i've notcies that people that use pure vanilla seem to track oddly too, and their hitting the back button will show a refferal in the traffic stats.
It's definately possible. They have grown into a mammoth where are certain times of the day the site's off the hook, and slow as shit. Which is good for sales, but bad when you are in a hurry to do your updates.

They have had insane growth over the years, and I've never had an issue with them.

                                                  Indeed.

But I know for me, after the first store, I figured out the formula that works for us. I have also tinkered with new shit over time. Some worked, some didn't. But for us, I can get the money we lay out in a shoot back in 30-45 days alone from C4S. This doesn't include the DVD, website membership, etc. etc.

So for us, we make back our money in no longer than 45 days. Some girls really strike a cord, and it's broke even in 15 days. But again, there is a method to making a successful store, and getting the shit rolling money before launching a site behind it, DVD, and so forth.

If you know what you are doing, C4S is a goldmine.

I appreciate the site and all but damn someone really needs to get off their greed chair, set up an affiliate program and upgrade to handle what is needed so people do not get timed out or that I do not go a week with no sales.
                                                        Ouch!

I can definitely understand your frustrations on your situation. If I went a few days, or a week without a sale, I would be worried as well.

Well we are a small productions company, so I had to do a lot of hands on in the beginning to make sure we made our money back. In the first store, it took me a good 3 months or so to figure out what drives sales, and how to promote things.

I then tried some things on the next store, and before launching the site, and had varied success. But by the third, fourth, fifth I had it down cold. What works for a successful launch, and doesn't.

Also what works for me on the additional outside promotion side of things to drive more sales, and new people. I LOVE LOVE LOVE when a new person finds one of my sites and I get those $50-150 single sale notifications where they bought a shit load of clips. Always gives me a chub.

Yes, i can typically get my money back in a week on c4s, and I don't even bother with dvd's. I have membership sites that I use as archives (plus a few exclusives), and I use that as gravy, really.

We typically will do a themed clip the week before, and email everyone on our mailing list to tell them. The only holiday weeks that things don't do as well are the ones where there are big outdoor events, and thent he day before everyone goes back to work is typically HUGE late in the evening.
