It's like using a tractor to drive 1000 miles road.
Sure, you can drive 1000 miles with a tractor, but even the 30 years old car will be better for this purpose.
Wordpress is a blog engine, so blogs should be made with it.
Tubes, tgps, paysites should be created with a software developed for this purpose.
Sure you can use Wordpress to setup a tube site, as same you can use a tractor to drive 1000 miles road.Comment

WordPress is not a blog engine anymore. Now it's just a most popular multipurpose CMS with a shitload of plugins and themes. I don't know any other CMS with such a big baggage of various extensions.
Alter any WP tube theme you like (there are many of them floating around), or order a custom-made one. Almost every modern Web designer is able to do a WP theme.Obey the CowgodComment

It's true that Wordpress today is not just blog engine, but it was constructed to be a blog engine.
Developing a product based on Wordpress is getting harder and harder as a product is growing. Project made from scratch for one purpose, which was created using proper design and architectural patterns with good documentation can be developed to huge sizes.
A project with the same purpose, based on Wordpress, will become too expensive for later development. It will be taking too much time and resources.
I'll give you an example. You can make an auction website with Wordpress, I bet there is a lot of custom themes and plugins to do that. But try to expand it later to size of ebay.Comment

Hey kazymjir, quick attacking the McWebmasters! Don't you know that running websites should be like flipping burgers? How else would people that have no skill or value to add be able to fill the web with recycled content?
Why would they worry about scalability, branding, and authority when they can keep pumping out shitty sites becasue it's easy!

problem is that the tube script is 1000 bucks.. I cant believe that polish guy charges that much. ITS CRAZY..?. cant believe some people pay that much.. most of the guys buy that script and then the TUBE never grows and they never recover the money. And no, dont tell me its the site owners fault..
im sure 90% of the SCRIPTS of 1000 bucks bought to the polish guy, never make it.. i mean, they never become a site with traffic to recover that 1000 bucks invested.
yeah there is xtube or tubex (cant never remember where the x is in its name), but i heard they stopped developing it...Comment

In other words, WordPress is bloatware that does everything "ok", but does not one thing really well. WP is not even a good blog platform anymore. Too many useless features. Too complicated.
They need to release WPLITE for blogs. Maybe call it 2.2? I dunno... Wordpress used to be compact, intuitive, and fun! A LOT of fun! Now its just an online version of Windows (without the actual "Windows") that needs constant babysitting and updating.Comment

Yes now it's not just a blog engine but an universal CMS which has the biggest collection of plugins and themes. There is no other CMS in the World which can be even closer to WordPress by the total amount and quality of available mods.
For example, I can do my own tube engine which is not a hard thing to do. But I will never be able to design such a crazy collection of different skins and add-ons for my own engine, like those that already available for WP.Obey the CowgodComment
