Capt. Loyd Baker says a 29-year-old man took the baby with him after contacting a woman through a website and agreeing to meet her at a motel in Tuscaloosa on Sunday. The man told investigators he took the child because he didn't have anyone to babysit.
The Tuscaloosa News (http://bit.ly/NavcHj ) reports that a scuffle broke out over money after another man entered the motel room. A gunshot grazed the father's head, so he grabbed the baby and ran into the bathroom.
Hospital workers contacted police after the man sought treatment for the wound.
Welfare workers had custody of the child on Monday.
