How to clean up email lists?

    Hi,

We have a list of an old program we are going to use. It has about 80.000 addresses, we need to clean it out before sending to 40.000 non existent addresses we paid for.

What is the best way to clean it up?

You find a email scrubbing service, and then pay them to clean out the duplicates, junk, traps, etc..

Best way is to mail it and remove all bounce backs. It might fuck with your delivery rate the first time mailing but it'll definitely do the job.

I did that earlier, last year. However now we're consolodating two programs and i just want to copy over the dbase with users. It's seperate from the mailing list itself.

I'll have a look at that program posted, otherwise I'll go the long route again (which also costs quite some so I'd like to prevent that)

Some of of customers at YNOT Mail use a trigger - When a customer opens the email the email address gets moved to a "good list" and the rest gets trashed.

However, if you are purchasing email addresses... You are not SPAM Compliant.

Right. Those are called openers and clickers. Obviously the "good data" in emailing.

The goal of email marketing is not just to carpet bomb 10 million people who do not want your shit. It is to locate the openers and clickers in your lists, find out what they will buy or if you can convert them on some offer.

There is plenty of mailer software out there that will track openers, and clickers. Some ESP's provide it, some mailer platforms provide it, but this is ultimately what you are after if you know what you are doing when it comes to email marketing. Openers, clickers, conversions.

These are not bought, these addresses belong to a mainstream program i own. I want to merge it with another program i own but only if the data is still valid. The emailaddresses come with full profiles and i only want the best of it.

Obviously they get an email explaining what will happen and they can freely opt out of everything, including their entire dbase entry. Since they are our own clients, no need to double opt in and whatnot.

                  Cheers.

Best answer here. ESP emails cannot be verified with any type of verifying service. They have to be mailed to and hard-bounces need to be removed.
