        I'm not so sure anymore if MPAA/RIAA are really serious about stopping piracy. They've been pretty much useless this year - they just keep publishing their garbage "watchlists", but after the MU raid there has been no real serious action. Piracy costs them some money, but provides them with the biggest power and influence they ever had, because it destroys competition and creates situation where if you're not in their system, you cannot make money at all.

        That's the irony of it. Pirates always point their fingers to Hollywood to justify them being thieves, and to make themselves look as some sort of "freedom fighters" who fight the oppression from huge greedy corps. While in reality they provide those "greedy corps" with the outstanding amount of power and influence, by killing the long tail of their competition and alternate income sources.

                    The approach AK has is a completely new angle and might reinvigorate them into action. Getting more of the smaller studios would be great as well. To stop the money flow of piracy is the key to reducing it to kids sharing as it was. As you point out some of the hosts are making a lot of money from piracy. Money flow stutters, the bills don't.

                                                I know you all read this thread, so get this through your heads and read it over and over until it sinks in: What AK or anyone else involved in this project does for a living, did in the past, or may do in the future, has NOTHING to do with the fact that the file lockers you are using host illegal content and are against the AUP of the billing companies.

                                                            Far from it. I've been following it from the beginning. I was wondering when his crusade would go in this direction. He is now going after any file locker because it might have an affiliate program.

                                                            Time would be better spent taking down the sites which violate IP/Copyright law rather than taking down a site with no violations just so you can +1 your stats.

                                                                                        But you do understand that the sites with the affiliate programs have people uploading pirated goods, don't you? They have to load stuff everyone wants, which they normally would have to pay for, otherwise people won't download them in masses and the uploader get paid for it.

                                                                                        If they pay per 1000 downloads. How is an affiliate going to make money loading shit that no one wants or can get for free everywhere else? They can't. Thus the masses loading pirated material, the latest software, movies, latest porn, and child porn. They need those downloads to make money. 1000 at a time to make $3. This is not rocket science. Those with affiliate programs are the largest pirate operations. That is a fact.

It's not like AK can simply ICQ a one liner to paypal "hey pals @paypal plz shut down dat crazy saka" and get this site's pp account closed. They need proof, and the bigger the site, the more proof they want.

                                                                                            If those theoretical legit file lockers with an affiliate program do really exist, the best defence for them from what AK is doing will be to just stay legit. He'll not be able to collect evidence if there's none, and this site will go on about their business without bumping into the problems with either paypal or any other cc processor they might use.

                                                                                                EVERY account is investigated by Paypal directly. Not by AK. He simply points them in the right direction and makes them aware of possible files to look at. If it's found to be in violation of their AUP, they terminate the account.

                                                                                                Also, Paypal is not downloading child porn. They have a legal obligation to report it to the proper authorities. So I won't be surprised if arrests come out of this at a later time for those sites where it turns out the CP listings were legitimate and not just a ploy to get clicks / downloads, which within itself violates Paypal's AUP and is enough to get the account terminated.

                                                                                                                                                    Some of the URLs are simply wrong(letitbit.NET, hitfile.NET, EASY-SHARE and etc), and many of the reported victims, actually the big ones(letitbit, easy-share), still accept PayPal on their pages...

                                                                                                                                                                    I was embargoed on Mediafire until midnight, looks like the beat me to the punch.

                                                                                                                                                                    A few other one's (one pretty big which has been asked about alot here recently) is also going to lose Paypal overnight but I cannot say it's name yet.

                                                                                                                                                                    As for my typing, it's hard to type with MS and I have my staff do most of the actual hard yakka as I co-ordinate this.

                                                                                                                                                                    We will have a collaboration system up this week which will allow even more people to become involved.

                                                                                                                                                                                                    If these lockers were smart, they would all do the same and clean up their act at the same time. That way they would not get funds frozen or possibly lost.
