I'm doing great on the patch, I don't think about smoking ever. At the heart of everything nothing is going to work unless one really wants to quit. I really do want to quit smoking. I quit with the patch once before doing the whole program.. and fell back into smoking thanks to January Internext. LOL

I'm expecting to do the whole program for 6 weeks with the first patch and then the following 4 with the other two. I guess we'll see what happens.

I'm a crack head for nicotine just like any other smoker. Most people that smoke have the mistaken idea that its the act of doing it, the nervous habit, and really its all the nicotine and nothing else - at least for me.

I also quit RedBull about 4 weeks ago... those caffeine withdrawls were a bitch the first two weeks. I realized that without the RedBull in my diet there isn't any other caffeine so it was a difficult withdrawl (headaches, body pains).

To keep me moving toward good health I'm aiming to get back in the gym in the next couple of weeks. I've already changed up my diet some with smaller portions, better food and a lot more water throughout the day. Overall, I'm feel better and more energetic....... and I smell nice and am good to kiss, too. LOL

                                    Cheers,

                                    Brad

I did the entire program from a to z myself, too... and for me, the worst part was after I gave up the patch. My body finally realized it was getting no more nicotine, and threw a hissy-fit for a few days... still a lot better than the month of pain I endured while gong through my "cold turkey" experiment... I figure, at that point, I was less dependent on the drug, so it was easier. When the time comes, just stick to your guns, surround yourself with people that love you... and you should be fine, man. No reason to have to start all over again.

Yeah, it helps, but it's only a tool much in the same way that a life-jacket's a tool that might help you swim the English Channel. You still gotta be of the mindset and have the determination to get it done. If you decide to get it done, good luck... in my experience, life's a much more rewarding experience with a nicotine addiction under control. Set a reasonable date, plan to avoid bars and maybe drinking for awhile, and stick to it.

I should also mention that I always have a moment to spare for peeps that are quitting and wouldn't mind someone to talk to for whatever reason... so anyone in that boat shouldn't hesitate to hit me up.

Wow, for most people you're so wrong.

The physical addiction to Nicotine will stop about 72 hours after you stop taking Nicotine. After that, your body won't crave it as a physical addiction anymore.

It's the habbit that gets most people. The years of smoking. The routines of smoking (In the morning, in the car, when they drink) that makes for the powerful longterm addiction.

That's why the patch works for a lot of people. It gives you a long period of time, like 10 weeks or longer, in which you can change your habbits and routines, without suffering the physical withdrawl from nicotine at the same time.
                                            .

You're definitely right about the habits. For me, it was driving in the car or sitting at the bar.. outside of that, I was only an occasional few cigs during the day. All I can say is how amazed I am at how well the patch competely curbed all desire to pick up a cigarette. From the first time I put one on during the morning the first time I quit with it, I had no desire to smoke.

Quitting any addiction can be difficult. Good luck to all of us!
