We always interviewed models face to face on a casting, so a phone call was just to make sure she knew it was nude work and for publication. Then if she turned up for the casting we would go into depth. I could tell very quickly if I was barking up the wrong tree. It was usually me who said no to the girls. I could tell she was pushing herself to do it for the money.

A combination of both. And I hardly book any models for scat directly, often they start shooting milder stuff. I've shot scat with models who were totally new to porn and needed the money but once shooting they discovered they couldn't do it, so I stopped after 10 minutes or so. Of course then some still want to get paid for the full 2 hour shoot which I refuse and then the drama starts but that's a totally different chapter of EV's book
