yes they are on strike, but the only ones that will be effected first are the late night shows like Jay Leno. They have TV shows already made, as well as a back log of scripts. If they strike for more than 3 days i will be suprised.

studios have enough in the can to get them thru to January. The writers are fucked. The WGA is no where near as powerful as DGA, or even SAG. Strike will be over shortly. If it's not, you can still kill what's left of your brain cells watching Survivor and American Idol.

One possibly interesting consequence of all this is MAYBE... just MAYBE, a small (but influential) percentage of TV viewers get turned on to Internet TV viewers--you know, following episodic web-based amateur programming like AskaNinja, net-based documentaries, net-based comedies (funnyordie, etc). Maybe the longer it drags, the more people get turned on to TV-independent entertainment.

                  Anyway, just speculating

                    Good

The quality of material, with very rare exceptions, would not get thru 1st year at film school. Maybe the 'writers' can do something more useful - like fight fires or something........

This could be the turning point for the American populous. Perhaps they will start to think for themselves about important issues in the world. Oh... there's a re-run of the Married with Children on, gotta go!

That's actually what made Cops famous. A writer's strike caused them to pick up some 'likely-never-make-it-but-fills-the-slot' work that required little to no direction and no snappy quips.

Dude made an empire by putting people in front of a camera trying their best not to fuck up or beat down the black man too hard.
