    I just acquired 700 TGP/MGP sites. --- Now what???

A few months ago I set out to purchase 200 seasoned adult domain names. This was for SEO purposes and it didn't matter if the sites had any content, PR, or traffic. We just needed the domains.

Well, I was approached by a fellow who had nearly 700 TGP/MGP sites that he wanted to sell. They were all .COM and .NET and they were well seasoned, too. He wanted to get out of the adult biz and made me a good offer.

Assume that we do all the right things on a site-by-site basis.

    --- Redesigned Sites
    --- Good scripts
    --- Sloth Trader
--- SEO to pump up their rankings
    --- Smart Thumbs
--- Full-time traffic traders that know what they're doing.

    Important considerations:

--- The sites are generating about $3,000 - $$5,000 in passive income a month now.

--- Most of the sites do not presently have PR.

--- It is hard to tell for sure but we think that they're getting around 2 - 3 million visits a month now (aggregate)

--- We are going to zero-in on 200 of the top sites to start our renovation project.

In terms of generating revenues from the sites, we are looking at several options:

    --- CPA deals.
    --- CPM deals.
    --- Submit Passes.
    --- PPC deals.
    --- Monthly Banner Sales.
    --- SEO opportunities.

Here's my question: Is there a 'rule of thumb' that can be applied to this situation to estimate what these sites could generate in the form of monthly revenue? I realize that some sites will perform better than others. But on average, how much net income per site is reasonable to project?

Also, if you have any ideas or suggestions how to tackle this, please feel free to let me know on this thread or privately.

Here is a small sampling of the domains.

In my opinion it doesn't matter how many sites you have but how much traffic and content. You can make more money with 7 sites than with 700.
I think those sites need a complete re-design (structure of content etc.) and you should add way more content because these sites look boring and show not enough content.

If you need help or have any jobs left feel free to hit me up on I seek you # one six zero - four eight nine.

True, traffic is king. Of course. I am no expert in these things, but my partner who is an expert feels that having 30+ sites in each niche gives us some options that would not be available if we only had one or two sites per niche.

His answer had something to do with setting up the back-links between the sites to pump up their search engine ranking which in turn brings good QUALITY traffic.

I think we can agree that search engine traffic is probably at the top of the list in terms of quality traffic that converts well.

But this brings up another question: What forms of bought traffic work best? There are plenty of people selling traffic out there, and I'm interested in your suggestions, but what CATEGORIES of traffic work best from a cost-effective standpoint?

        Thanx in advance

Of course with 700+ domains you can rock the search engines but why do you want to make mgps out of them then? Search engine traffic on mgps is a waste in my opinion. Just create some content rich hub sites and you should make more than with giving away free content to fresh traffic.

The idea of making some "hub' sites is something we're looking into. Rest assured that the SEO traffic won't be wasted. We'll structure things in such a way so as to maximize it.

When I bought the "700 Club" as I call them, there were some definite plans what we'd do with them. Personally, I'm brand new to running TGP sites, but my partner has been around a while.

If you look at the original post, you'll see that I listed several things that we'll do with the sites. Things that I would think show a certain level of expertise (not mine necessarily) Did you miss that part?

Still, I haven't gotten an actual answer to my original question. How much per site is a reasonable prediction in terms of monthly revenue from a well-run TGP site?

right now your sites are making $4.6 per site per month before expenses, subtract registration and hosting and its like $3 per site per month - that's three dollars.

Let me know if you need to develop some of those domains. I could write a script that would manage your 700 TGP/MGP. All you'd have to do is skin each domain with a unique design, assign them to a specific niche and the script would generate the content. I could work on a great application for you that will save you A LOT of time and definitely be profitable. In my humble opinion, that would be the best option for you.

Contact me and I'll be happy to discuss about a solution for you. I've got solid references available from the adult industry and that type of project.

Good luck in monetizing your investment !

Yes, of course we're going to get a CMS set up for the 700 Club. This brings up another question. There are a few pre-packaged, feature-rich, CMS programs out there. The question is whether to have a CMS custom built -- likely with far less features but more specific to our particular sites -- or go with an off-the-shelf program?

right now your sites are making $4.6 per site per month before expenses, subtract registration and hosting and its like $3 per site per month - that's three dollars
Hmmm ... I come up with $4.42 per site after expenses. That's a 47% discrepancy. What version of Excel did you use to arrive at your conclusion??? I think you have a floating point, division by zero, page fault problem with your CPU math co-processor. Whenever that happens, it seems that a catastrophic hard-disk failure is imminent. Do you have a good back-up???

                    Seriously though ... does anyone have an idea what TGP's can make if they're run right? $100/Mo ? --- $300/Mo ? --- $500/Mo ? --- $1,000/Mo ? --- More???

                    TIA

Put it this way you should be making at least one sale per month from each TGP so you have 700 to 900 sites making 1 $30 sale a month that is between $21,000 and $27,000. Throw some pay per click on there for an extra couple grand a month.

It should be easy to get 1 sale a month from each site. Good Luck!

Thanx for the input. The way I read your post suggests that $30 - $50 bux a month is a bare minimum kinda figure. OK, it's a start.

Now, let's say we're averaging 10K - 20K visits per site/day. Can someone "guestimate" what kind of revenue we could reasonably expect to see on a monthly basis if things are done right?

CXA, I believe you do realize how hard is to estimate an average TGP income just by daily traffic. I think you should make at least 2-3 signups per month with this traffic, propably much more if the TGP is done right.

I think you get a monthly income in less than $5 per domain because some of these domains don't get you any income, and some works just fine. I would suggest you to keep an eye on traders and protect your TGPs from cheaters. Check what niches works best for you, what TGPs are getting better income than others and you will get an idea what to do with it.

I was running a big cluster of 10.568 TGPs since some months ago... now it's under a complete rehaul.

Will not go into details, but if you play your cards properly you can make some crazy and really cool things with a decently made TGP cluster. Also make sure you have the proper scripts to manage such a monster.

Just ask yourself how much time will it take to change all your TGP cluster. If the answer is more than 12 hours, then prepare yourself for a really nice google bann.

I was not kidding, small tgps make 1-2 sales A YEAR, but with a 1000 of them you'll make 2-3 K a month. There are tons of cheater traffic traders out there that will gladly send you hitbot traffic in exchange for your SE traffic. Do you realize what its like to maintain 1000 tgps? domains, content, hosting, cheaters, scripts?

A waste. You could use maybe 20 of those. Grow them into TGPS/MGPS if that's the world youre looking to get into. You should make 500-1000 if youre somewhat decent on each of your top 5 atleast

Or hire someone to manage a network of a certain amount of sites for you, take a cut. And create whatever you want with the remaining. But it looks like you just want $$ and have a little cash to invest, obviously.. if youre going to buy a shitload of domains that you aren't sure what to do with.

We will have all the following positions filled as we go along:

                                  --- Business and SEO Consultant
                                  --- Project Manager
                                  --- Programmer
                                  --- Designer
                                  --- SEO / Blog Writers
                                  --- System Administrator
--- Link Managers / Traffic Traders
                                  --- Gallery Manager
                                  --- Data Entry Team

The latest thinking is to make about 200 of the sites into blogs and the rest into MGP's. We're thinking of allocating 550 of the sites to Google ranking and 150 for Yahoo.

My partner has gotten --- and kept -- some great Google rankings for some juicy keywords on other sites that he runs. Our 700 Club gives him some great SEO assets to work with. Remember, they're all well seasoned domains well within "The Sandbox".

At the beginning, we'll probably buy a bunch of quality traffic and aim it at a few carefully chosen 'hub' sites and niche sites that will throw off traffic to the rest of the sites. So, we'll be trading traffic among our own sites. Something like that.

BTW: The sites are averaging $4,000 per month RIGHT NOW. The previous owner tells me that in their 'prime' -- about two years ago -- they were generating around $12K - $15K per month.

Thanx to Pseudonymous who is the only person on this thread -- so far -- to actually answer my original -- and oft repeated -- question.

I don't run a TGP but I believe the ratios for making a sale are not so hot. Something in the range of 1,000 to multiple thousands of visitors to make a sale.

With that being said the traffic numbers matter little if the individual sites aren't visually appealing, updated frequently etc. Considering that the sites are currently bringing in $4,000 a month with a little tweaking you should be able to double or even triple that amount in the near future. Best of luck.

This is kinda exciting for me. I love building things and the purchase of The 700 Club gives me a lot of building blocks to work with. It's quite an undertaking to re-design, re-shape, re-invent and re-model these sites into something new. As you all have pointed out in your own way, I have a variety of directions I can go and a lot of groundwork to do to get there.

I realize that I am a newbie to all this but geez, 700 sites I feel like I've been catapulted to the 'Big Leagues' -- OK maybe as a bench warmer -- but I feel like I'm 'in the game'.

Keep in mind my partner has been around the biz for a while and he has some definite ideas. However, before we commit sizable amounts of money and manpower to this I wanted to get your thoughts about the income potential as well as some ideas about how to make the best use of the sites.

The feedback I've gotten privately is awesome. Thanx to all of you that have contacted me with your thoughts, ideas, propositions and well-wishes.

I fancy myself a creative marketing kind of guy. My style is not to 're-invent the wheel' but instead to make it just a bit 'rounder'. Rest assured that we'll experiment with some new ideas along with the tried-and-true ones.

InterNext in Vegas is gonna be a blast. Whenever I go to one of these things, it gets my imagination running wild. My goal is to be an exhibitor next year ... perhaps as soon as the summer show in Fort Lauderdale.

In the coming weeks and months I'll keep you up to date on where I'm going with the 700 Club. I met the seller here on GFY and I feel a sense of loyalty here to give back. Wherever this takes me I will be a member and contributor to GFY. In fact, you'll likely see a paid banner here in the very near future.

Mark my words. My partner and I will develop the 700 club into a true 'player' in the biz. No false expectations of becoming a top-tier player, but we'll be solidly in the game.

Although at this very moment our business model is under construction, you can be certain that we will develop a reputation for providing a quality service at reasonable rates.

I'd like to see this thread continue for a while longer. Please jump in with your thoughts about what could/should be done with the 700 Club. Yes, I have a pretty good general sense of the direction but I'm very open-minded to hearing yours, too.

                                      Thanx again

                                      Neil
