Yes .. I'm sure he's very upset about my sig on GFY .. I'm sure if he met me he'd punch me right in the teeth .. I'm still going to see if i can find a few prints of his. I love his work. he does some cool hotrod style stuff.

Actually - it is a big deal since it is a copywritten work and you appear to be using it as a logo for your program (even if you don't see it that way). You seriously are taking a big unecessary chance.

Even if you hired an artist to create something you would still need to make sure that you owned it outright.

As someone who has had to defend a suit against Nabisco because we sold three titles of a video called "whoreos" which we did not produce and looked nothing like a box of oreos, trust me, you don't want to even take a chance on stuff like this... simply not worth the risk...

Far-L .. I can see your point on that .. it does have my company name above it and doesn't have his name on it. I've been just popping different devil pics in there every few weeks. I'm not worried about any legal issues with it really but out of respect I'll remove the S$ or add art by coop. i still don't have a license to use it but at least I'll give credit.

With a brand like Homegrown Video I'm sure you've dealt with people biting your brand. I respect your opinion on the issue.

Lol, you certainly know your history. It was an Al Borda title - Al is now a supermogul who started and owns Skin Industries which is a big clothing label. You see it everywhere.

From what i understand (years ago we tried to license some of his devil girl stuff) they are very uptight about their rights and marks and go after everyone. Just because no one has said anything yet doesn't mean it is safe to use. Even if Mike gives him credit that will not be any sort of protection if they do come after him.

I don't want the image .. i just googled Satan and it was one of the things that came up. I knew I've seen the style before but didn't know who's art it was. I change out that image every few weeks. the last image was a Photoshop pic of my son as a devil . I'm sure I'll put up something else soon anyway.

On a side note, COOP is one of the famous artists alive right now. He's built a massive empire around his pop art. I've got a couple of his prints from early '90s grunge show flyers and they were not cheap.

Ed "Big Daddy" Roth was rumored to have originally penned Coop's Devil sketch, but it is widely known and excepted as Coop's art.

Tod Macfarlane bought the rights to all of Ed Roth's artwork and has been creating some 'toys' of them (Ratfink) IF the first statement IS 100% true Tod is an ass when it comes to pursing ANY type of copyright infringement.....

(Got a nice letter from his camp back in 2000 for using RatFink on my old comedy band website..... and UNDER the image we had a plea calling for info on who owned the image and how we could obtain rights to use it)

And Mike, keep this image in mind for a future sig button ;)
